How to unlock the Custodian of Phidian achievement in Star Trek Legacy - Definitive Guide

Not sure difficulty makes too much difference here but...

As soon as you start warp all 4 ships straight to the debris and start shooting. I found it works best having all four ships selected (Push the D-Pad + A). If you leave it to the computer to control 3 of them it seems to sit idle to frequently. Having 4 selected seems to blow up the debris very quickly as four ships target the same debris and you can keep hitting RB and RT.

Check the tactical map every 30 secs to make sure that no debris has got past and if necessary send a ship after it. Some can be ignored if they will pass by to high to the sensors.

Once you get the notification about the turrets then send your fastest ship (2 if you have everything under control) and use the tractor beam to grab a turret. Take them to the SENSORS - not the planets and drop them in front of the senors. Once you have those two in place grab three more to position infront of the planets. Finish the mission by taking out the large piece of debris and you should get the achievement.

Obviously if a sensor relay gets destroyed you will need to restart the mission.

Tried 4 or 5 times as listed in the walk through, but got it first try with this, thanks! Also important to point out, I had to pull 2 asteroids into the larger one at the end to get the cut scene that it had broken up. Don't need to get them in front of the big one, just fly your ship close to it and they'll "collide"

I kept trying to do this with destroyers, the scouts are way better at this job.

Any tips on killing the last asteroid before it reaches the planet?

Got it, took about a half dozen tries, it was damn annoying. But repetition is key. I used two scouts for this. When the big asteroid comes out, I focused on it with every ship, but took control of the Stargazer and whatever other ship was not the scouts, and put all power to phasers.

I basically did what Happy Ronin NZ said, but I sold my fleet and bought three scout ships. I cranked up their power to engines, warped those three ships to the debris and started taking everything out.

I warped the Stargazer to the left-most sensor array and protected it and the planet behind it until I was allowed to tractor the turrets, and then I had all three scouts hauling turrets as fast as I could -- the first two straight to the sensor arrays, the next three to the planets.

Good luck!

No claims for originality as I used basically the same as the guys above, although having tried using the fleet I started with and hocking the lot for scout ships, I was still having grief with the left hand sensor.

I managed this using the Stargazer, a single scout ship and 2 Miranda class. They're not quite as fast as the scouts but they've got much more oomph when it comes to taking down the debris. I also found that maxing out the weapons made life easier to start with as it increased the amount of debris each ship could take out.

Mirandas and scout sent to the star and the Stargazer protecting the left array.
Once the turrets were available I warped the scout to collect it and maxed out engines. I protected the right array first, then diverted the ship that had found its way back there to protecting the right hand planet.
The second turret was used to cover the left sensor.

I then used the Miranda and scout class ships to drag a turret to each of the planets, the scout covering the left hand one as it's faster.

The final part was done with a Miranda class covering each sensor in addition to the turret and I used the scout to drag and drop.

Big thanks to both HaPPy RoNiN NZ and stevivor for setting me on the right track.
