How to unlock the Lock and Dock achievement in Star Trucker - Definitive Guide
If you start with the tutorial, the game will point you at a station after you drop off the cargo you had from a job. If not then simply look around at the various markers in space (the map screen only shows the systems and not the general area.) The game mentions that there may be stations who keep their location data off, but in general you can find stations by looking for a dot and a station's name. Once you drive closer the marker will change to a blue dot with an image that indicates what the station has to offer (a shopping basket for supplies and trade-goods, or a list for job offers.)
Drive on over and look for a square panel on the walls of any station (or look for the marker indicating the shop/service, as these are placed on docking ports to make it easy to find.) If you get close enough to one of these squares it will open to reveal a maglock. (glowing ring)
now for the docking part... to dock, you need to activate your maglock to attach onto the docking port. your maglock system is located on the back of the truck, so turn around so you face away from the dock. In first-person mode you will find a monitor to your left when sitting in the driver's chair. The first channel (far left light on the bottom of the monitor, it will be on this by default.) will show your "docking camera" aka, the rear view mirror. If you are within range of a maglock the camera will show a targeting reticle and info about how close the lock is from your truck. Try to line up the center of the reticle with the dock's maglock (the reticle's ring matching up with the glowing ring of the lock is a good sign your doing things right.) as you reverse to get closer to the dock. Once close enough the monitor will show one of two text messages at the bottom, "maglock ready" if your lined up well enough for the settings you have, or "not aligned" if the truck is too skewed for the magnets to connect. If the game thinks your not aligned simply move forward to make some distance and adjust to better line up before backing up again. Try thinking of a box in front of the dock, if you fit the truck into the box you should be good, if not then make some turning space.
Once the docking camera stops showing distance and says "maglock ready" look even more left at the lever next to the monitor and interact with it to turn your truck's maglock on. A small scene of your truck connecting and then being pulled into the station will play out and the station's menu will open up. Congrats on docking, you will be doing this a lot.
