To reach General Rank you need 300 Cumulative medals.
To view your medals go to Star Wars Battlefront 2 -> Pick a Profile -> Options -> Career Stats.
There you can see all your medals.

Endurance - Get 12 points in one life (Only 9 needed at Elite rank)
Energy Regeneration Bonus

Guardian - Get 24 points in one life (Only 18 at Elite)
Damage Reduction Bonus

War Hero - Get 36 points in one life (only 27 at Elite)
Increased Damage Bonus

Frenzy - Get 12 kills with a Blaster Rifle in one life (only 9 at Elite)
Elite Rifle

Marksman - Get 6 headshots with a Sniper Rifle in one life (only 4 at Elite)
Beam Rifle

Demolition - Get 4 Rocket Launcher critical hits on a vehicle in one life (only 3 at Elite)
Remote Rocket Launcher

Regulator - Get 8 kills with a Shotgun in one life (only 6 at Elite)
Flechette Shotgun

Gunslinger - Get 6 kills with a Blaster Pistol in 1 life (only 4 at Elite)
Precision Pistol

Technician - Slice a vehicle
Vehicle Regeneration Bonus

You can do this in Singleplayer in either the Campaign or Instant Action, they both count.

1. go to Star Wars Battlefront 2
2. Pick a Profile
3. Singleplayer
4. Instant Action
5. Add your Maps you want to play
6. (you can also play with the Options to change Conguest reinforcments to 500 and other things)
7. then Lauch the Map

You can use cheat codes like Infinite Ammo and Invincibility, these will NOT void Achievements.

To use Infinite Ammo cheat code press Pause (in each Map you play) and press on the DPAD

To use Invincibility cheat code press Pause (in each Map you play) and press on the DPAD

Reaching General rank requires earning 300 medals

My understanding this is only in Battlefront 2

Easiest medal to earn is get 12 points in a single life

You can always check how many you have by going into the options an clicking career stats

To obtain this achievement you must earn 300+ medals. This can be achieved offline playing against bots. You can check how many medals you have at anytime by doing the following. Select profile>Main menu>Options>Career stats.

The 9 different medals are

Point medals:
Endurance - Earn 12 points without dying
Guardian - Earn 24 points without dying
War Hero - Earn 36 points without dying

Kill medals:
Gunslinger - Get 6 kills without dying with the blaster pistol
Frenzy - Get 12 kills without dying with the blaster rifle
Marksman - Get 6 headshot kills without dying with a sniper rifle
Regulator - Get 8 kills without dying with the shotgun

Vehicle medals:
Technician - Slice an enemy vehicle with a fusion cutter (an enemy must be inside)
Demolition - 4 rocket launcher critical hits on a vehicle within 1 life

I suggest using the infantry class while going for the point medals along with the frenzy and gunslinger medals.

The following is how many medals you need for each rank and the command ability reward.

Private: 0 medals (Lead 1 unit)
Sergeant: 20 Medals (Lead 2 units)
Captain: 100 Medals (Lead 3 units)
General: 300 Medals (Lead 4 units)
