Reach level 3 once with any Trait (Multiplayer)

How to unlock the A cunning warrior achievement in STAR WARS Battlefront - Definitive Guide

***This has changed since I played it last, lots of valuable info in the comments for the completion of this achievement.***

Okay Traits are first unlocked at Rank 15
This means grind your way though multiplayer till then.
Once you hit 15, buy the card; this will be "Bodyguard", "Scout" or "Survivalist" each one costing 7,000 credits and equip it to your character.
Leveling the card to level 3 has to be done in one life and you need a certain amount of kills to level it each time.

Personally I found that using the "Scout" trait was best as it allowed me to move around the map sprinting without being seen on the radar.

3 kills to level 2
Further 3 kills to level 3

I recommend doing this on blast as the objective is to get kills and that's what your trying to do. Walker assault and supremacy were recommended by A Krayt Dragon and Black Man 8698 for the large amounts of players and longer time limits.

Summary
> Rank 15 minimum
> 7,000 credits minimum
> "Scout" (recommended)
> Blast or walker assault (recommended)

walker assault and supremacy will be good for people who are not really good at blast

You need 10 kills total to get a Trait to Level 3. I also recommend doing this with Scout as it helps you rack up kills without being noticed, however I'd recommend doing Walker Assault as there are tons of players on the map, which makes getting the kills easier. Plus, you have a longer amount of time to try and get the kills, whereas Blast matches tend to end quickly.

Added it to the solution, thanks. Let me know if someone finds out the amount of kills needed for level 2.

Thats not correct. You need 6 Kills to get a Trait to Level 3.
3 Kills for Level 2 and 6 Kills for level 3. Have done it 5min ago in Walker Assault. I recommend to play Endor Walkerassault because of the vegetation where you can hide in. Greets

This just unlocked for me when I was level 14. I was playing the outer rim playlist. Must be some glitch.

I think this must be glitchy in your favour at the moment as I unlocked this before I had any traits (think I was level 12 or 13). I was playing Cargo in the Hangar level and camped our base with the scout pistol and impact grenades equipped in my hand. Got a lot of kills and pistol streaks and somehow the cheevo popped.

Just unlocked for me playing Extraction. That final part before the end you can get a lot of players grouped together

I was going for the spawn x times using a parters card setup and they happened to have a trait and it popped for me when I went on a kill streak.

Having got this achievement and also hit it a few times after as well I don't think it is entirely based on kills. The match I reached level 3 on last night I didn't have enough kills in the entire match to theoretically hit the level needed. However what I did have was enough pod captures and bacta heals, so I think it is more related to a points accumulation in one life rather than just kills.

It is points based. Like Peaches 518 says as you get kills and assists, Ill have to confirm other point based objectives the circle around the trait icon goes up. The information missing is is that if you die, you lose all those points.

I also cant condirm but from my research you apparently lose a level each time you die as well. So if you get your trait to LVL 2 and die, you go back to level 1. You have to get to level 3 in one life which I think is 800-1000 points. Sometimes a kill only gets me 100 points and that gets me approx 1/4 of the circle. I dont think its possible to do legit now with all the sweats and cheaters in the game

ok I just got it!

My strategy was to unlock the Homing Shot card and I equipped the T-21b sniper/zoom rifle. I hung waaaay back from one of the capture points on Supremacy and got a bunch of distance kills while my teammates rushed ahead. Still not easy to do but it worked for me.

Also, you can try doing this on Droid Run. I actually got to Tier 3 without even trying just now while playing a match. I had the absolutely op'd DL-44 blaster and got like 8 straight kills. I find this mode to be easier to get the achievement as its only 6v6 and the maps are much smaller. Plus, everyone is running around trying to capture droids so you don't have to worry too much about some random fuckhead sniping you from halfway across the map.

I think the comment above is right, it's more like 6 kills (or similar total points) from level 2 to 3 as I've had 5 and not got level 3. The solution posted needs to be updated to reflect that.

Old, but hopefully this will help anyone still playing.

There is not a set number of kills to get this. After you equip your Trait, you'll see it in-game toward the bottom left of your screen, above the radar. As you get kills OR ASSISTS, a circle will fill in around the trait icon. It seems to fill up more the more damage you've done, which is why some people take a lot of kills (they killed already weakened enemies), and some people get it with no kills (they got a bunch of good assists).

This solution relates to actually getting a Trait to level 3 in-game rather than how to unlock Traits and the requirements in the first place, as B3AN's solution does a good job of that.

The clear point to make is that you don't need to get a certain number of kills. The Trait levels are based on points and, obviously, not dying. To get to level 3, I equipped Bacta Bombs to get points and streaks from healing teammates, and Barrage to increased the chances of multi-kills.

As you can see in the video, I got to Level 2 and then managed a Barrage multi-kill to get to Level 3, however I never got the 6 kills mentioned elsewhere, it's just total points. This means you can totally get to Level 3 by just healing teammates with Bacta and picking up the odd kill.

Extraction is a great game mode as if you are defending you can camp out at a well-protected spot and just pick up a steady stream of points from kills and healing with less risk to yourself. Again, the video shows that.

I hope this helps and good luck.

It's a great spot! I've levelled traits to 3 a good few times now, but that first time was very, very tense...

Alternate method to the above to get this earlier I was level 9 and got this by spawning with my parters load-out who happened to already have a trait equipped.

Ok so trait cards are unlocked upon reaching rank 15 (I believe).

This gives you a bonus for getting kill streaks depending on which trait you have equipped. Traits have three levels, one of which you start with, the other two you will gain by gaining kill streaks in multiples of three. For example:

No kills: Trait LV 1
X 3 Kills: Trait LV 2
X 6 Kills: Trait LV 3

If you are killed you go back to level one and must start again. I'm pretty sure you have to get this on foot, so don't think about trying to get it in a vehicle haha!

I recommend using as many power-ups as you can like infantry turret, droids etc to gain the odd extra kill. Homing shot could also come in handy if you're struggling as you can be sneaky and get kills from afar!

It took me a couple of matches to build up to level three but all in all it's not that tough. I suggest you get the survivalist trait card anyway because it increases your rate of health recharge but for trying to get this trophy if you're struggling, use the scout trait. This will reduce your presence on enemy scanners increasing your odds of getting streaks.

If I've missed anything out then please let me know, otherwise good luck :)
