The Bomber
Defeat 50 enemies using Dual Proton Torpedoes with the Bomber ship class.
How to unlock the The Bomber achievement in STAR WARS Battlefront II - Definitive Guide
There are some cards that can help with this, particularly Advanced Target Lock. If you have no cards for the bomber class whatsoever like I did for awhile, then craft that one first.
Unless you also have the card that makes the torpedoes stronger, you'll usually want to weaken the enemy ships down to half health first with your ship's standard blasters or other abilities before you attempt a kill with RB. Just be prepared for the likelihood of other players taking your kill or the torpedoes missing their target. It's partly luck and being in the right place at the right time, so don't get too discouraged.
If you're a Y-Wing, it does help to use the ion cannon (LB + RB) to disable the target's abilities and slow them down for a time, making them an easier kill for the proton torpedoes; you'll usually be right behind them if they're stunned as such.
At first I thought it was a glitch, but there is one map out of the initial five on Starfighter Assault that doesn't have the bomber class available for whatever reason, so if you see it then back out and search the game mode again, unless there's other achievements or career challenges you're going for on that map.
Update: The newest Starfighter map based on the beginning scene of Episode 8 The Last Jedi also doesn't have the bomber class...
Oh, lastly, any hero ships that have the dual proton torpedoes won't count toward the achievement, from what I heard, so stick with the bomber class. Good luck.
Update 2: As pointed out by Fooga, a good alternative for those who aren't into Starfighter Assault can use the bomber class ships on Galactic Assault by bombing enemy players on the ground; one well placed torpedo said to be a one-hit kill.
This achievement can be earned by simply joining existing games as the servers are still very active. In the US particularily. But, if you want to boost the kills, an eight person session is recommended. It only takes one random...
At start of session, have all session members navigate to the "options" tab in the main menu and select "EA Account". Under Multiplayer Settings, change ping site to Japan. Australia and Germany may also work. We are looking for servers grossly under used.
At match start, all but one Hero on each team will crash. The player on each side attempting the achievement will select a base model Tie Bomber or Y-Wing when returning while others select a fighter or intercept class vehicle - not a bomber. The bombers will kill the opposing fighters using Dual Proton Torpedoes ( ) earning credit toward the needed 50 kills. Note that targets may need some softening up a bit (30%) with blasters prior to actual torpedo launch.
As long as the two hero ships survive, players will be able to spawn back in over and over until match times out. When a player pops the achievement, have them suicide or killed so another player on that team may start their run by spawning as the bomber. Each round lasts 5 minutes and will end in a draw. At the beginning of the next round, all roles may be changed including Hero Ship players.
Although not necessary, the Star Cards "Advanced Torpedoes", "Targeting Computer" and "Advanced Target Lock" may help.
NOTE: this method can also be used to attain kill streaks as well for progress for The Interceptor in Star Wars Battlefront II. Just remember to crash after the second kill in order to establish a new streak. This can be done at the same time or separately.

*** MUCHO IMPORTANTE ***
You can quickly be kicked from a match for idling. Mix up your turns and fire weapons every so often to avoid this. I was kicked once for making a smooth arcking turn. Too steady I guess. Using under populated servers increase the chance of the player returning to the match before a random fills the slot.
Above method still being perfected by Arador, FEEDtheBEA5T, HellSpawnCF42, LRD SOTH, Ms Dudette, Sniggit, yhfgtbfkm and NonKosherSalt. We will edit or add in the comments any refinements. Questions or comments are welcomed.
Fighters and other bombers will require a few hits from your primary weapon for the torpedoes to defeat them. Interceptors will be defeated outright.
My best advice though is to do this at night. It took me a few years to get my first 25 kills. I just ground out the last 25 in an hour of playing at 4am. Less human ships, more ai ship with less people targeting them. Objective enemy ships also count.
I found the easiest way to get this is to go after mostly the A.I ships. I tried to get the Separatists/Empire as much as I could as they are on the defending side, and the opposing team will spawn groups of AI controlled bombers that will be marked. They are very slow and are very easy targets as they are one of the larger ships, and they will be marked until they are destroyed. I got about 60% of my kills in one day using this method.
Whittle them down by tapping the trigger to fire the main weapon and make sure the torpedo is the last hit.
I had a lot of teammates steal my kills while doing this, so you will have to be patient. The AI being marked is helpful for you, but they are also marked for your team so they will go after them also unfortunately.
Unfortunately also the First Order and Resistance do no have a bomber class on most of their maps, so if you are strictly going for this achievement, you may as well leave the lobby and find a new game.
You could use your starcards for increased torpedo damage and decrease the lock on time, however I got this achievement before even unlocking all of the star cards and upgrading them to max. (Which requires your Bomber class to be level 15 to even unlock the last card you need.
I hope my many hours of suffering offered some knowledge to somebody lol.
This trophy is specific to the “Bomber” ship class so make sure to pick that when going for this trophy. Although you can pick ships in Galactic Assault and Strike with battle points, your safest bet is to play Starfighter Assault for this trophy because you’ll be in a ship the whole game.
The Bomber type ship has Dual Proton Torpedoes by default, which can be activated by pressing to get a lock on your enemy while they’re in your crosshairs and then again to fire them. The torpedoes alone won’t do enough damage to kill an enemy at full health, so use your primary fire to weaken them a bit first if they are. Note that killing AI ships counts for this trophy as well so if you’re having difficulties killing other players, go to the outlines of the map and focus on AI.
To make things a bit easier on yourself you can obtain or craft star cards to upgrade the damage output of your torpedoes which is very helpful when going for this trophy.
You can check your progress towards this trophy in the main menu. Go to the “Career” tab, then choose “Starfighters” and find the “Lock on Target” milestone.
