How to unlock the On the ball achievement in STAR WARS Battlefront - Definitive Guide
Very similar to CR4SHED's achievement guide, but mine is easier, and allows both players to focus on a single area that enemies come from. You will also be able to get Ackbar's Elite with this guide as well.
Map: Hoth
CO-OP SURVIVAL
Difficulty: Master
Load out: E-11's
Rogue Card Pack (The one they offer)
When you spawn, immediately turn around and go into the doorway right behind you, then proceed to your left and into the room that has a collectible.
There are two indentations in the room for a little hideout, on the right and left, both people need to sit in these little indents and look down the hallway that you came from. This is the only area enemies can come from. You are going to want to consistently use your cards, (Barrage and the Thermal Detonator) to shoot down the hallway to either kill or wound the enemies before they even reach the room.
The types of enemies that will come down the hallway are:
Standard Imperial Soldiers
Heavy Imperial Blaster Soldiers
Cloak Shock Blaster Imperials
Drones, Jump Pack enemies, and snipers will not go down to the room you are hiding in.
Our strategy was to sit in this room and kill everyone that came to us, and when we had the drones, snipers, and jump pack enemies we would go back down the hallway to the little T intersection, and kill everyone else, while still having enough cover.
When the AT-ST spawns on round 5, you should have a drop pod sitting around the map somewhere, wait for the AT-ST to go inside (if the drop pod is outside) or vice versa if the drop pod is inside. Capture it and one of the drops should be a vehicle turret, place it somewhere in the center of the map to kill the AT-ST.
The Drops you are going to NEED are Blaster Cannons. You can set it up in the room and it makes this whole process a breeze as the blaster cannon causes the enemies to fall to the ground (When you hit them) allowing you to kill them before they even have a chance to shoot at you. Make sure to claim drop pods during rounds that have droids, just leave 1 alive and just run around the map avoiding it and getting the power-ups for future rounds.
Round 15 is the hardest, but not that hard all-together. Do what you have been doing and when there are just a handful of enemies left, which will be snipers, drones, jump pack enemies, and an AT-ST use the strategies you have been using before to take them all down.
I would have this achievement, but my partners game kept crashing at wave 15, not allowing us to earn this achievement. So I should have it soon, but we were also able to do all of this within 35 min, for that achievement as well so it kills two birds with one stone.
I hope this helps!

It should be noted that jump pack troopers come down the hallway now. If you leave your blaster cannon for too long it will blow up.

This achievement can be easily done on the map Hoth.
In this Video I show you multiple spots to do this the most important thing is to make short work of the AT-ST rounds.
You should not run into to much trouble just so long as you are playing CO-OP and making short work out of the Ground units.
With all of the taking into consideration it it more important than anything not to die because you are still playing on master difficulty and it is not a "walk in the park"

this is achievable by yourself I did it. please note I got this and akbars elite both on Hoth. best scenario the first pod falls at the beginning of the stage and you get the blaster cannon as one of the 3 random drops from the pod.
all you have to do is go in the hallway that's a T set the blaster cannon at the beginning of the curve. the room turns to the dead end room with the diamond collector icon. note that only regular troopers, shock troopers and shadow troopers come in the hallway. the jump troopers, droid, sniper and of course the at-st must be killed outside of the location.
I unlocked them today as of this post by myself only need two more achievements and I'm done. the vast majority of these have been myself only the one that required a friend is the only one I had someone else with me.

It should be noted that jump troopers come down that hallway now. Only the Droids and Snipers don't come down the hallway. You may also want to pick up a second blaster cannon, as the blaster cannon blows up if left for too long. I lost it at wave 13 and had a hell of a time trying to get another one from the other pods that late in the rounds.
I finally did this solo last night. First pod was outside I picked it up during round 4. Second pod landed just outside the hallway you are camping while I didn't need the second blaster cannon it was a nice back up to have.
The load out I used was my MP set up upgraded barrage, personal shield, and upgraded ion grenade.

Short and Sweet way to do this.
1. Load up the Hoth Survival mission on master difficulty in Co-op.
2. When it loads up run into the room at the end of the hanger which only has one entrance and exit.
3. Hold up in there taking cover when needed be VERY careful.
4. At wave 4 run out and grab a drop pod to acquire equipment to kill the AT-ST, there is no infantry so just avoid it until your armed then kill it.
5. Hold back up in the room (RUN BACK!!!!) and simply camp there until you reach wave 15 this will only be a bit harder due to the AT-ST simply hole up and lay all your fire into it.
6. May the force be with you.

For anyone not having much luck on Hoth, this can also be done on Rebel Depot.
Use the demolition loadout. As soon as you spawn turn around and head through the hallway till you see the broken x-wing. Go around and into the medical room. To your right you should see a window. Use your impact grenade to destroy and then you got yourself a nice hiding spot. Enemies can't go in there and only once did they toss a grenade in (though is was a flash). Just keep peaking around the corner to take them out and spamming your grenades. Easiest master survival I've had by far.
Be conservative with your shield. Save it in case they do get grenade happy. Also watch out for the cloaked enemies as they can take you down to 25 health with one shot. If they get you play it safe and let your health regenerate to full before poking your head out again.
At the start of each round just to speed things up a bit, hang outside near the room so can pick off some enemies little quicker but don't push your luck by staying too long or straying too far from the room.
Found this solution on youtube from someone called "Jeremy Lee" so credit goes to them.

My partner and I were able to get both On the ball and Ackbar's Elite using the following strategy:
Co-op survival, master difficulty on Hoth.
Take positions in the small rectangular room directly opposite the main hangar bay door. It is all the way down at the other end.
The right player covers the left chokepoint (many enemies path through a specific area) and the left player works on the center before covering the tunnel to the right. If you get a turret, it is very useful in either position (we had a turret on the right).
Ignore most drop pods. We risked getting the first one in the hopes of receiving a turret. There will also be a drop pod that lands in front of your room that is easy to capture.
We used the DL-44 Blaster pistol (as it currently feels pretty OP), and star cards as necessary when enemies began getting close.
The benefit of the room is that you can funnel enemies through specific choke points, maintain cover using angles, and only occasionally have enemies make it into the doorway. Two waves contain chicken walkers, which can be dealt with by drawing them close to the room and then shooting at their feet (they won't be able to fire at you). But be careful of rockets and grenades during their approach.
Take cover and regain health if you take too many hits! Note that the right side of the room is deeper than the left. We completed the 15 waves in roughly 20 minutes, with a few near-death experiences.

This is a bit of a pig but it's doable if you can find the right routine. I did this in co-op with a friend on the Hoth map. The idea is exactly as it says in the description, complete a full survival on the hardest difficulty setting within 35 minutes. Here's how:
As soon as you spawn, turn to your left and head up the ramp into the room with computers inside (there will be a smaller room coming off to the right with a collectible inside).
This is your base. Every wave, excluding the first one, will come from both directions. Some will come through the main hanger and try to pick you off from the floor or get up the ramp to infiltrate the room, the rest will come from the back corridor.
The person taking the back corridor can crouch directly on the bend, change your view to third person and aim over your LEFT shoulder. You should be able to see any enemies coming as soon as they enter the room at the end of the corridor your protecting. The first thing you will see is their feet which is great because you can pick them off in one shot. (obviously this is normal troopers.)
The person guarding the main door into the hanger can stand in the doorway and pick off any easy targets and simply drop back for breathing room if needs be.
Wave 3 or 4 will be an AT-ST, now you should use this opportunity to collect any red retry hearts and drop pods, if you try inbetween rounds you'll find you won't have enough time to get back to base and may die on the way there.
When you come to the end of a round, it's always worth leaving one enemy alive. This way you can take your time collecting hearts, charges and capturing drop pods.
Don't place vehicle turrets directly in the centre of the hanger for the AT-ST, normal enemies just destroy them. Instead, come out of the room your guarding but instead of heading to the left and down the ramp turn right and go up high. You'll get a good view of the whole hanger and the normal enemies should ignore the turret. (On wave 15 we never even saw the AT-ST, it was taken out by the turret before we even knew it was there.
Blaster cannons are good, place any you get smack bang in the middle of the room facing the hanger door entrance, you'll get a good angle and spray anything that dares come through.
Thermal Imploders are useful for large groups of enemies as long as you stay clear yourself, the blast radius is huge! Also useful for the AT-ST if needs be.
Infantry turrets are awesome for this strategy, again place it high up on the right overlooking the hanger and enemies should ignore it.
The smart rocket could also come in handy, but again be very cautious if using it in these corridors and the room! (More than once I used an impact grenade and was stood too close to a wall! Same principle applies)
Proximity mines are also very helpful here, could take out 1-3 enemies if they all run over it at once. Just place it where you think is going to be helpful.
To be honest anything else you pick up could be useful but these are the main ones to look out for. So leave one enemy alive, one person keep him busy and the other run around and capture pods and collectibles. If you pick something up like a mine, cannon or turret then place it down where you want it and go back for another collectible! Get everything you can because you'll need it!
Watch out for shadow troopers as they can take you out with between 1-2 shots! Take cover, wait for your shot and jump out and use the barrage or a grenade. This will stun him long enough for you to open up on him with your blaster to take him out, this applies to troopers with heavy blasters too.
Jump troopers are a pain in the arse but with the correct method can be dispatched easily. As soon as you try and shoot them they will deploy a personal shield, then normally, they will use their jump pack once it's depleted and try to take you out from the air. Just take cover but make sure you can see him until he jumps up then blast him. You can normally just hide and shoot them in the feet to be honest haha.
Now the AT-ST's are a little tricky but again manageable. The person guarding the back should go down the corridor, through the next room, then take a right and into the hanger. Your job is to keep him busy, by ducking behind the big upright pillar and jumping in and out of cover. The other person should stand well out of the way and the far end of the hanger and nail him! Use as much heavy artillery as you can and he should drop sooner or later. (If it enables you to choose your multiplayer hand at the start then equip this and make sure you have the Ion Torpedo as it should only take two of these.) Again you can use this round to collect any drop pods or hearts if needs be as long as you're careful.
Some rounds will be a pig, others will fly by... it's really strange. Just make good use of grenades and barrages as these can take out several enemies at once and give you some breathing space.
If you only have a few enemies left then see if the other person can make it through before you spend a life IF you die.
Round 15 will be 14 enemies plus an AT-ST, try and leave him until last and stay out of the way. Every now and then you may find you get over-run so don't be afraid to fall back and regroup if needs be, but that room I've mentioned was definitely the best place we found to stand and fight.
I think that's it guys, we did it last night in about 29 minutes which we felt was good. I think we used 3 lives between us but it's definitely manageable.
Sorry I've waffled on a little, if anyone needs any help, has questions or if I've left anything out please comment and let me know!
Good luck!

This is a really good strategy, but my friend and I found a better spot tonight. I think we did it in about 25 minutes.
If you're in the main hangar, head directly to the back (opposite from the outside). There's a small room that looks directly into the hangar and has nothing behind you. All of the enemies funnel towards you, and you can hide behind the walls in the room for cover. Enemies will come in, but with both players in there hiding behind the walls, it's easy to pick them off when you are overwhelmed.
I'd also add that I used my multiplayer hand (available once you beat survival on that map on hard) with the homing missile, ion torpedo, and the enemy detector. The ion torpedo makes droids and AT-STs easy to take out, while the homing missile will hit an enemy or two far off in the distance at the start of the round.
We only died in the final round, and ultimately didn't have much trouble. This was after we failed miserably on Master on all 4 maps.
