How to unlock the Kicking Back achievement in STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order - Definitive Guide

First off, in order to do this achievement you have to unlock the skill "Evasive Kick" from the skill tree. By the time you get to the second planet Zeffo in the campaign you should have enough skill points to have unlocked it which is where you will encounter the Phillak – these are the 3 horned ram-like creatures you will be kicking.

I struggled with this one at first either trying to get them to kick or trying to use my kick and accidentally using my light saber until I developed this strategy.

1) Try and find a lone Phillak which you should encounter early on in the level.

2) You can wait for them to turn red for an unblockable charge – once they charge, hit B to dodge out of the way, remain close by, and with their back turned to you they will kick you. Make sure you are not blocking it.

3) Alternatively, you can block the various charges and head butts the Phillak will perform and try and maneuver behind around it to get it to kick you.

4) After it kicks you, quickly tap B then X thus kicking the Phillak. If you are not quick enough with the button mash you will probably light saber them by accident.

Here's a good video reference for those struggling:

Good luck!

I definitely recommend step 2 instead of 3; you can put your back to a cliff/wall and force it to stop after charging, making it easy to get behind it and be kicked.

I also used this method for the evade and kick, as it telegraphs the move and gets stuck after charging.

+1 thanks for the guide.

Worked like a charm with step 2. As soon as he aggro'd, charged, evade and he kicked. I moved back, he did the same attack, evaded and I kicked. +1 on the guide.

The most important part in gaining this achievement is that the left analog stick has to be neutral to do a kick. If there is any directional input at all then Cal will swing his lightsaber instead.

You can use slow (cn_RB) to get behind it. That's what I did.

Mobius’s point of not moving the analogue stick Is critical, I get slashing all the damn things instead of kicking.

Terrible control scheme for kicking. 15+ buttons on an xbox controller but this is the best they could come up with? Just sayin'

To be able to kick should have been mapped to a single button. This weird combo you have to do in order to actually kick something is just bad design. Good guide and video though.

Do in meditation grid. When it turn red and attack slow time, dodge and run behind it. It will kick you. Kick back and cheevo pops

Thanks for the guide, and I agree that Mobuis' observation about the left analog stick was the key element that I was missing. I couldn't get it until I read that, then I got it first try. Might be worth adding to the solution itself.

The phillak can also be easily fought once the campaign is finished. Choose Meditate/Meditation training/Combat Challenges/Tomb of Eilram. Two phillaks appear in the second wave along with a monster thingy. Kill the monster first and concentrate on kicking one of the phillaks as well-described above. Restart the challenge if you accidentally kill the phillaks.

In this video guide I will show you how to kick a phillak that has kicked you. First thing you will need to get this achievement is the Evasive Kick ability. This is found in the Lightsaber Skill Tree. So be sure to get this right away to be prepared for the area to get the achievement.

The Phillak is located on the planet Zeffo. The creature looks like a big three horned goat. You will find them on the normal story path. In order for it to kick you, you will need to get behind it when it attacks. It will kick you with both its hind legs. Once you get up just press the B button to dodge and followed up by the X button. Once you kick it back the achievement will pop. The good thing is that if it don't work you can try it again since the kick does very little damage.

For anyone a little bit confused like me about how to be able to kick consistently, I saw this on another guide.

Kick is done with tapping cn_B and then cn_X. Which is very simple, my confusion was, you need to only press cn_B and cn_X and not be moving. If you are pushing the cn_LS stick to move this will take out your lightsaber rather than kicking.
So when you are doing the kick manoeuvre make sure you’re not trying to use the left stick to move. (Credit to X BigBen O in the kickoff guide.)

Just wanted to add this, as the other guides are very good and clear. But honestly I spent an hour failing after reading the guides and all the comments. It wasn’t till I read the guides for the ‘Kickoff’ achievement that I was able to get this first time.

Hope this helps.

After arriving on Zeffo, you will encounter a few phillak. These three horned, ram-looking animals are pretty strong and will attack from close.

Wait for one to light up red indicating an attack, let him charge and while he is stunned, go to the back of him and wait for him to kick you.

From there press the B + X combo to kick the phillak back.

Make sure you unlock the Evasive Kick Jedi Skill beforehand.

During the game you will encounter a few Phillak. These three horned, ram-looking animals can do a lot of damage and while attack when you are close to them. To be able to get this achievement, you will need to get the Evasive Kick ability in the Lightsaber Skill Tree,

Now find a Phillak. These creatures can be found on Zeffo, or in the Meditation training. Choose Meditate - Meditation training - Combat Challenges - Tomb of Eilram (it can be found in wave 2).

When standing next to a Phillak, wait for it to glow red and it's about to attack you, dodge and get behind the beast. Make sure you are close enough for the beast to kick you. After this happens, do the Evasive Kick ability (evade and action button).

Achievement unlocked.

You need to Unlock the Evasive Kick ability from the Skill Tree before attempting this trophy. Once unlocked go to Either Kashyyyk or Zeffo planet and look for a Phillak, go behind it and let it kick you and then perform the Evasive Kick by pressing circle.png+square.png just before it hits you to move sideways and kick it back.
Credit to PS5Trophies for the video.

Note: You don't need to kill it for the trophy to pop, just kick it after it kicks you first.

Phillaks are a ram-like enemy found on the planet Zeffo. They have a basic charge attack that they use most often, but if you manage to get behind them they will use a two-legged kick that will knock you down. After getting hit by this, you must kick the same enemy in return some time before it dies to unlock the achievement. Hitting it with other attacks first will not void it.

Use dodges/rolls to move behind the enemy and purposefully get kicked, then use your own "Evasive Kick" skill (unlocked in the Lightsaber portion of the skill tree) by pressing then in a very quick succession (you'll use a basic lightsaber attack if there's too much time between the button presses) at some point on the same enemy to unlock the achievement.

Phillak is something of a goat, he will be found on the planet ZEFFO. You upgrade the kick in the skill tree. Now IMPORTANT, the fillak has several attacks, he kicks, hits with a run and kicks with his hind hooves, you need the latter for him to kick, you need to be behind him and stalemate kick him back and the trophy is yours!

The order is as follows:
- first you need to let the fillak kick you , for which you need to be behind him. For simplicity, let's take it in sight , we move away so that he attacks you with a red unparriable attack (not necessary, but after several attempts this option turned out to be the simplest), at the moment of the attack we dodge and finding ourselves behind him, we run to him to get the coveted kick. At this point, there is no need to try to dodge/parry/hit back - you just need to get kicked.
- then you need to quickly dodge any of his attacks and kick him back.

There is a way to get this trophy on any planet (only available after beating the game), if you previously missed the opportunity to get it. (Before receiving this trophy, make sure that you have leveled up the "Dodge Kick" skill (located in the middle of the "lightsaber" section))

We go to any save point, where we subsequently press the button “Training-meditation”, after which we select “Battle field”, select any arena (does not depend on the choice of arena). After this, select the fillak (the name of the enemy will be written below) and place it on one of the cells (Before starting the training, use the , you can enable 3 modifications that do not block receiving the trophy (To activate them, simply press the Left stick or to the “arena”, where the name of your selected arena will be written, then scroll to the right to select modifications. Select the first 3 (Infinite power, Infinite health and Infinite block))). After that, just slow down the fillak and wait for it to hit you with its hind hooves, after which you can press the button combination + , to kick the fillak.

Requires the "Dodge Kick" skill. Then on Zeffo (the second planet, training does not count) we find a goat, let him kick Cal and kick him back. Video for clarity.
