How to unlock the Riposte achievement in STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor - Definitive Guide

Kind of a confusing description. To unlock this you need to Parry an enemy that is resisting the force pull. I did this on the "Raider Veteran" enemy which is found throughout Shattered Moon and later in Koboh.

I had force pull fully upgraded but I believe you only need the second tier of it to achieve this.

Force Pull & hold with cn_LT as the enemy is flying towards you parry with cn_LB and the achievement will unlock.

The enemy will be "resisting" if he does an animation (like putting his weapon into the ground) and doesn't fly straight at you.

My video guide further explains and shows this.

I would edit the solution to point out that you need to fully let go of LT before pressing LB. I failed at this so many times thinking that you just pressed LB during the Force Pull and thought maybe my timing was off.

You don’t need any force upgrades I got this achievement about 20 minutes into the game (on my main) and I haven’t put a single point into any of my force abilities

I can also confirm that you don't need any upgrades into force pull I got it a little bit later than sleep Smurf at the boss fight when you first arrive at the cantina. I just got kinda close pulled him for a sec released and the parried his revenge strike

You can do this in Training Block vs the Electro Staff trooper.

The agile black robots with electric sticks also work too they scrape their feet along the ground to know they are force pull resistant

Couldn't get this to work in training block, but if you've finished the main story there's a Bedlam Smasher right next to the Decrepit Dam meditation point on Koboh. Worked first time (just make sure you release LT as the enemy gets dragged towards you).

Thanks - find a force tear and you should be golden on this one.

For anyone still struggling with this achievement (like I was), the secret I discovered was to reset your skills. Unrelenting pull was making it impossible to get the achievement. The resistant enemies would dig their weapon into the ground but they wouldn’t or couldn’t counterattack me because of the force ability. They would simply fall on their face and there was no attack to parry.

So, simply reset your skills, and then go into training, then advanced training, and then advanced parry. Pull the enemy, and then he’ll lunge at you and that’s when you parry for the achievement. Got it on my first try.

Great solution! What you need to add is that it cannot be done on Story Mode difficulty because the enemy won't dig in the weapon to resist the pull. If you switch to the next easiest difficulty, Jedi Padawan, it's really easy to do. Use pull (LT) and just before they get to you they suddenly lunge at you, immediately hit and hold LB to parry. If it doesn't work you can keep retrying and because you're on a easier difficulty the force meter regenerates quickly and the parry timing window is more generous.

This one really helped me, since I unlocked the Unrelenting Pull following the main solution.

Firstly you'll need the ability to pull a force resistant enemy by unlocking "Unrelenting Pull" which can be found under the Force Telekinesis skill tree:

Wrenching Pull (1 Skill Point)
Twin Pull (2 Skill Points)
Unrelenting Pull (3 Skill Points)

Now you need to find an elite enemy (e.g. Veteran Raiders) or a named boss (e.g. Zeik) that is resistant to force abilities. Attempt to use Force Pull on them by holding cn_LT - they'll resist by holding their ground and eventually counter attack you. Before they hit you with a counter press cn_LB to parry them and unlock the Riposte achievement.

Force Pull resisting enemies include larger Bedlam Raiders, Purge Troopers, certain melee droids, and other larger foes. You’ll know when they’re a Force Pull resisting enemy, as any attempt to use the ability will see them lean back and skid along the floor slowly towards you, rather than being lifted. When they resist, keep the Force Pull button (L2) held down until you draw them in close enough, making sure you have enough Force power in your gauge. Once they’re close, they’ll automatically attack as your hold loosens, so be ready to parry with L1. Successfully deflect their incoming strike, and you’ll earn this. Timing is everything!

Can be done in training mode. On the easiest difficulty, the enemy does not resist, so set it to a higher difficulty level.

The point is that many melee enemies will resist the pull first and then dash. It is necessary to parry this jerk.

It is not necessary to reset the skills, through a fast journey we go to the Diagnostics corridor, press the button on the remote control, a compartment will open in which there will be two MagnaGuards, and here we get the achievement.

If the attraction skill is pumped to the maximum, then enemies will fall to their knees. It is necessary to reset the skill tree and teach only basic attraction a lesson. In training mode, select extended training and there the first enemy with a purple baton is the one you need.

I did it on a random hunter-boss-killer with a red life bar. At L2 he attracted and at the moment when he attacks the sting at L1 did not interfere with pumping, the main thing is not to kill until you catch the moment to parry. Did it on easy difficulty
