How to unlock the You've Got A Friend achievement in STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor - Definitive Guide

Missable - Bode only available for a few missions!

A new addition to the series is companions. On some of the missions a member of your crew (Bode or Merrin) will accompany you. Each companion has an attack ability, shown in the bottom right of the screen. While targeting an enemy you can activate their assist ability by holding cn_RB then pressing cn_X. They'll then attack/assist you in combat. You need to use this 10 times with both:

Bode Missions:
Coruscant
Droid Control Ship
Mountain Observatory

Merrin Missions:
Jedha
Jedha (2nd Visit)
Jedha (3rd Visit)
Free roaming Jedha (post game)

*** You need to do this 5 times each with Bode and Merrin...10 in total for the achievement to unlock.

I'm in chapter 1 and have done like 20 assists and have no progress.

Edit: I went to the achievements app and it updated to 50%

Does Bode only help you on Coruscant?

This needs to be a missable

Got it today with Merrin after I had five assists with Bode. So it’s not „10 times each“.

im stuck on 95%, ive counted 20 with bode and more than 20 with merrin. I might have to go back to trying merrin again. this game seems to reset the counter if you dont hit a meditate point after earning a notch on the achievement tracker and close the game. I merely turned my controller off and the game forced an update and didnt save and i lost like 45 minutes of progress.

Oof, thought I could 100% complete this game in one playthrough like Fallen Order, but now there’s a missable achievement. :-(

Demotivates to get other achievements too, to be fair.

Sucks that I have to replay the game for this but hey, more reason to dive into NG+

Did it in the second play through in ng+. Took me around 2 hours with skipping all the cinematics to get to the Merrin. As soon as I get 10 assists with her achievement popped. Not that long after all

Got this easily during my first playthrough!

This achievement is bullshit but easy to get on a second playthrough.

Put the level to story mode, skip cinematic and spam this during the first missions with Bode and Merrin. I unlocked it in around 2 hours like BiathlonLax experienced.

I'm at 50%, and Meeting isn't tracking for me. Playing on Xbox now.

Edit: It may not have tracked, but at least it unlocked.

I hate this achievement I missed 10 assists with bode first time round unaware of the achievment. So I did the 10 with merin once I seen it but was too late to do the bode part. Just started ng+ thinking if I do 10 with bode will be fine but it didn't so it must be a single playththrough. And I thought I had finished with this game

Well it take me another chance to replay this masterpiece, as a missable achievement. I had to do a game +, whith lower difficult. As BiathlonLax said in two hour of fun you can take it easily, as soon as you meet Merrin in Jedha. By the way in ordet to reach 1000 g, Perk of the Job achievement was buged so I have to do a New game + anyway. Cheers

You need to do it “10 times each” it’s literally in the description. 10 times with Bode, 10 times with Merrin.

If you didn't get all 10 with Bode in one of the three opportunities, but you got 10 with Merrin, starting a new game and just doing Bode again won't get it. You need to do both in one playthrough. This didn't exactly happen to me, but I was at 95% after the first Merrin encounter, having only been at 45% from Coruscant earlier, and started a new game just to test. Doing 10 with Bode on a different file didn't unlock it.

This seems like its glitched or something. I got the 10 with Bode on Coruscant so my tracker was at 50%. I got to Jedha and got Merrin, but when I did the ability after getting her, the tracker didn't move. I got to the Halls of Ranvell mediation point and suddenly the tracker went up to 80%. I dropped down to deal with the enemies below the point and used Merrin's ability but the tracker didn't move. I reset the enemies and tried it again but nothing. I saved and closed the game, same thing. I even restarted my console, still no achievement.

edit: Got the achievement. I had the 10 assists with Bode, but after leaving Coruscant I forgot there is a easy to miss health upgrade. So I started a new playthrough to get health upgrade, but I didn't use his ability that much, so the game didn't register the 10 that I had. When I got him back on the mission to rescue Zee, I spammed his ability and was able to get it. So if you restart your playthrough, make sure to use Bode's ability 10 times when you first get him, because it seems like the game's counter resets, and the achievement app won't track until you get the 10 with Bode again.

There are two companions over the course of the game. All assists must be done in a single playthrough and do not persist through new game or new game+. If you beeline the main story objectives only, it will take about 2 hours from the beginning of the campaign to complete this trophy.

The companions more-or-less trade off. You get a mission with one, a mission with the other, then back to the first etc., with a mission or two between with neither. It's not a matter of a companion being available for a short time all at once and then never again.

To get one credit toward this achievement, you command the companion to attack an enemy by holding cn_R1 then pressing cn_S. You can target a specific enemy first with cn_RSc if you wish, but it is not required. They will simply attack one of the enemies closest to the center of your screen if you did not target one.

It takes about 15 seconds for the companion command to recharge, so it is possible to get many assists per combat encounter. A kill or damage on an enemy is also not required to get a credit, you simply accumulate toward this achievement by using the command.

The first companion is available shortly after the start of the game, and also appears in two later missions on the second planet you visit. This is the missable companion because you only get them for three missions and that's it, they are not available again.

The second companion will always be available in free roam on the third planet you visit, even after completion of the campaign. They also accompany you on three missions just like the first companion.

Anytime you’re thrust into a mission with Bode or Merrin as companions, make sure to use R1 + circle to direct them. Turns out it’s incredibly handy, so whenever Bode or Merrin’s diamond-shaped icon fills (it’s on a fairly short cooldown), be sure to call them into action. Ten times each isn’t much, so as long as you remember to do this, it’ll come very quickly.

This is missable, so if you do happen to forget, you’ll have to start a new story save (or New Game+, if you like) and try again.

Missable trophy.

There are 2 assistant characters in the game:
  • Bode (Chapter 1 and 4)
  • Merrine

You need to receive 10 help in battle from everyone to get the trophy.
During the battle, select an enemy and press , . The recharge of the technique is fast, so the main thing is not to be lazy.

You must receive 10 help from Bode during Chapter 1 or 4.
After completing Chapter 4, Bode will not be available as an assistant and the trophy can only be obtained in New Game +.

Merrine will also be available after completing the story on the planet Jedha.

After completing the story, Mary is available on Jetha, but in any battle her help does not increase the progress of the trophy, I sent her 50 times and finally finished off the trophy in NG+

Let me correct you: you need to get 5 times of help from Bode and 5 from Merrine, and not 10 from each.

You can skip it! It is necessary, as I understand it, to use your partners in battle 10 times by order. Everyone, and this is Bodie (Chapters 1 and 4) and Merrin (Chapter 3).

The trophy is not missable. If you didn’t get the trophy during the story, you can finish it on the planet “Jedha”, where your partner will always be with you.

The trophy is missable because you need to use each partner's ability 10 times. After chapter 4, only Merrin is available, so it’s best to count 10 for chapter 1 , and then finish off the rest on Marrin. If you missed it, you can start over, go to Bode and get the missing ones.
