There are two companions over the course of the game. All assists must be done in a single playthrough and do not persist through new game or new game+. If you beeline the main story objectives only, it will take about 2 hours from the beginning of the campaign to complete this trophy.
The companions more-or-less trade off. You get a mission with one, a mission with the other, then back to the first etc., with a mission or two between with neither. It's not a matter of a companion being available for a short time all at once and then never again.
To get one credit toward this achievement, you command the companion to attack an enemy by holding then pressing . You can target a specific enemy first with if you wish, but it is not required. They will simply attack one of the enemies closest to the center of your screen if you did not target one.
It takes about 15 seconds for the companion command to recharge, so it is possible to get many assists per combat encounter. A kill or damage on an enemy is also not required to get a credit, you simply accumulate toward this achievement by using the command.
The first companion is available shortly after the start of the game, and also appears in two later missions on the second planet you visit. This is the missable companion because you only get them for three missions and that's it, they are not available again.
The second companion will always be available in free roam on the third planet you visit, even after completion of the campaign. They also accompany you on three missions just like the first companion.

Anytime you’re thrust into a mission with Bode or Merrin as companions, make sure to use RB + B to direct them. Turns out it’s incredibly handy, so whenever Bode or Merrin’s diamond-shaped icon fills (it’s on a fairly short cooldown), be sure to call them into action. Ten times each isn’t much, so as long as you remember to do this, it’ll come very quickly.
This is missable, so if you do happen to forget, you’ll have to start a new story save (or New Game+, if you like) and try again.

Missable trophy.
There are 2 assistant characters in the game:
You need to receive 10 help in battle from everyone to get the trophy.
During the battle, select an enemy and press , . The recharge of the technique is fast, so the main thing is not to be lazy.
You must receive 10 help from Bode during Chapter 1 or 4.
After completing Chapter 4, Bode will not be available as an assistant and the trophy can only be obtained in New Game +.
Merrine will also be available after completing the story on the planet Jedha.

After completing the story, Mary is available on Jetha, but in any battle her help does not increase the progress of the trophy, I sent her 50 times and finally finished off the trophy in NG+

Let me correct you: you need to get 5 times of help from Bode and 5 from Merrine, and not 10 from each.

You can skip it! It is necessary, as I understand it, to use your partners in battle 10 times by order. Everyone, and this is Bodie (Chapters 1 and 4) and Merrin (Chapter 3).

The trophy is not missable. If you didn’t get the trophy during the story, you can finish it on the planet “Jedha”, where your partner will always be with you.

The trophy is missable because you need to use each partner's ability 10 times. After chapter 4, only Merrin is available, so it’s best to count 10 for chapter 1 , and then finish off the rest on Marrin. If you missed it, you can start over, go to Bode and get the missing ones.
