How to unlock the Into darkness achievement in Star Wars Outlaws - Definitive Guide

The Kijimi Nebula is in space in the Kijimi system, which is unlocked after you have completed all the main missions on Toshara and gain access to the hyperdrive.

For this to track you have to be inside the actual clouds of the Nebula, not just anywhere within it, at first I thought it was broken or not tracking when I was just flying round the "Nebula Core"

You can fly into the clouds and you don't take damage, you'll know you're inside because your weapon reticle will blur slightly and you'll be unable to lock missiles onto enemy ships.

I just flew around getting into fights with pirates, fly into the clouds, turn and shoot them with your lasers, it will unlock after 10 kills.

As soon as you enter Kijimi’s orbit, one thing very early will smack you in the face, and that’s the massive nebula that covers the entirety of the area, shrouding it in a blanket of clouds, rain and general interference.

The big thing about the nebula isn’t so much its size, it’s the impact it has on your ship - and enemy ships. While flying in the nebula, you won’t be able to use any automated targeting systems for your ship. So, that means no missiles whatsoever, and the L2 button won’t lock on properly. Sure, you’ll still be able to track their whereabouts and “lock on” but it’s useless. You’re basically flying assist free with the ‘Into darkness’ trophy, folks.

So, first things first, how do you know you’re in the nebula? Well, 1. You won’t be able to see anything, really; and 2. If the lock on is a square symbol rather than the usual diamond symbol, and you won’t be able to fire your rockets, then you’re in it.

Then, it’s just a matter of killing 10 ships, and honestly, it can be tricky as you won’t be able to see them or your tracers to see where you should be aiming. However, fly around long enough, firing wildly and aimlessly, and you’re bound to net 10 kills eventually. There are enough pirate ships in this vicinity to try it out on anyway - and also, there’s a “Defend the Freighter” world even that happens frequently too, so take advantage of that.

Just, however, make sure you don’t accidentally leave the nebula or those kills don't count!
