Punching up

Punching up

Defeat each syndicate's capital ship without taking hull damage

1.4%

How to unlock the Punching up achievement in Star Wars Outlaws - Definitive Guide

The capital ships are quite powerful with decent shields, cannons and missiles often with some Fighters escorting them as well. A fully upgraded Trailblazer with the "PT-240 Proton Torpedoes" upgrade for strong damage.

The specific Ships you need to destroy are:

Crimson Dawn - SRX-T Manta
- Often found when entering Toshara space from another planet.

Pyke Syndicate - B84 Viper
- Can be found near "Battle aftermath" in Tatooine Space

Hutt Cartel - SRX-T Manta.
- Can also be found near "Battle Aftermath" in Tatooine Space

Ashiga Clan - B84 Viper
- South-East of the Nebula Core in Kijimi Space. There's a small corridor/tunnel that leads around to Pilots End. That is where this ship can be found.

If you end up taking hull damage, the ship doesn't spawn or you are just unsure then heading back to the planet until the menu to land is placed upon the screen and cancelling instead of landing will reset the area allowing the ship to respawn. Leaving to another planet or landing also works but is slower.

Also want to add that if the ships are in a battle with another group and don't agro you. Destroying the shop will NOT count towards the achievement. This is a rare occurrence but worth mentioning.

Be sure to set collision dmg to off if you go for the ramming method.

This helped a lot because all I could find was freighters so knowing the names of the capital ships saved me a lot of time. Also there are two capital ship spawns in Kijimi. Ashiga and crimson both spawn in the same area which is around pilots end. Ashiga spawns in the tunnel closest to the planet and in between the nubula core and crimson spawns in the tunnel farthest away from the planet. Spawning the Hutt capital ship is tricky too, you should basically head to the center of the wrecked battlefield and head towards the direction of the planet (not the actual planet) until it pops up the landing menu which you just close and the ship will be forced back towards the battlefield, just make sure you fly a bit lower than the battlefield as you head towards it and you should eventually see the Hutt ship spawn above it, just fly back and forth from the battlefield to the planet until it happens. Pyke was the easy one as I just flew back and forth from the right side of the map to the battlefield, you'll usually find hutts attacking pirates or pykes in the area the capital ship will spawn in

Thanks @SwaRoDia XP, your comment about the Hutt ship helped a ton. Got it to spawn first try after reading your post.

I just got the achievement it does suck a little getting the ships to spawn but using everyones help here will get you the achievement and knowing what ships to look for. I do want to add i was staying after the main ship blew up and killing all little ships and waiting for my clan rep to go down but when i blew up my last ship the hutt one i got achievement just as it exploded so you prob just have to kill each big ship and your good if you made sure you never fully lost shields and never took damage. To fight them i got a fully upgraded trailblazer and i would fly up to the ship im excellent with all factions so they let me get close then i fired my lazers to take their shield down and shot a missle that i locked onto them with then i used my speed to get out of there flew around til my missle came back then flew back shot missle and all the while im using that ability to jam the missles that are locked on me or do the bumper dodges. Its not that bad flying to the planet then cancelling land to refresh space is so helpful omg. Also i timed it it took me an hour and 20 mins to get all the faction ships killed but i also killed a pirate one too. Some ships spawned right away others had to fly to planet a couple times the worst one is finding the ashiga clan ship in all that space fog around kijimi.

No, there is no percentage tracker for the achievement, which sucks lol.

This took me 2.5 hours of constantly trying and researching online to get. I want to confirm/add some things to help out.

People struggle with two things: Getting the achievement to pop and getting the Hutt cartel ship to spawn.

Firstly, put the enemy difficultly to “Story” and that will reduce damage you receive and increase damage they take.

NO you do not need to blow up the smaller ships after destroying the capital ship. Once the ship is dead, it counts.

I do not know for sure if it would count if the ship is already in a fight with another group. I have heard it does (as long as you get the final hit in) and I have heard it does not. If I were you, I would just go back towards the planet, get the landing menu to pop up, then cancel to reset everything to be on the safe side and try again.

The Pyke ship has a much more frequent spawn chance than the Hutt ship. In order to get the Hutt ship to spawn, go from the planet to the LEFT SIDE of the battle aftermath in Tattooine orbit and that will usually work to get it to spawn. That one took me some research to find out.

If you have good or excellent reputation, then you can just fly right up to the ship and it won’t attack you. Use missiles to get its health down and get a head-start on destroying it. Before you destroy it though, be on the safe side and make sure you actually get the ship to go HOSTILE on you to ensure that it fully counts.

I ended up doing all ships multiple times, and the ship that got me the achievement was the Ashiga Clan one on Kijimi. I don’t think I made it hostile before destroying it so I went back and made to do that and that worked.

Spawns are fixed but does not always trigger so to sort this you can move to the planets and once you get the menu to land, just back out and move back to where the ships spawn.

Tatooine:

The Pyke syndicate, on your system map you should have an area called "battle aftermath". When leaving the planet and heading towards it, come in from the right side to have the chance of a Pyke capital ship to spawn in.

The Hutt Cartel, just as above but instead fly to the left side/straight towards "battle aftermath" to have a chance for the Hutts capital ship.

Kijimi:

Ashiga clan, this system is more of a maze but I'll try and explain it untill I can get a map up.

Start with heading toward the planet to land and turn back once the the menu to land comes up. Now you should be facing the cloud nebula and you should see a lit path with beacons going straight through it. If you move in via the main path take the first opening to the left, it's a small open path leading into a large chamber within the nebula with crystals. The Ashiga capital ship spawns in the small corridor between the main path and crystal chamber.

The Crimson dawn, can also be found in the Kijimi system, this one can be found by following the main path through the nebula untill you almost get out on the other side. Look for another small lit path on your left and it should take you to a small chamber where the crimson dawn capital ship spawns.

As for tactics in bringing the capital ships down you will proberly need to max out your ship and get all skills to help with maneuvering your ship. You can also change your game settings so you take less damage.

When engaging, focus on the yellow highlighted parts to deal the most damage and if your shield is almost down, hit repair to charge it back and get some more time to take the enemy ship down.

Do they have certain names at all? I think I managed to destroy the crimson dawn one but not sure if it was the actual capital ship.

Also saw a YT video that said you can just repeatedly fly into the ships damaging them and you as much as you like until one shot with a laser (Think it's cause you're not in "combat mode" until firing on them)

Hey guys about the achievements, I came here to leave my comment about this achievement, I was already 2 days after this blessed one and I got it, according to the tip from our friend above you should always go to the left side to the respawn of the hut cartel ship in Tatooine, another detail if you have a "good" reputation with any of the two syndicates, you don't need to attack the ships, just collide and hit them until you knock them down and the achievement unlocks, by doing this they won't attack you because of the reputation, that said good gaming to all.

For Crimson Dawn, I actually found that their capital ship would spawn quite often when entering Tosharan space from another system. An alternative if you dislike the Kijimi nebula.

For people struggling to get the hutt ship to spawn, this is the BEST strat. Fly towards the planet when it shows the prompt to land, press "cancel", the ship will then fly back, this actually **Resets Spawns**! So no need to fast travel loop or reload the game, this is the **Fastest** method for the Hutt to spawn! <3

Great guide. I wonder if the ships can appear in different spots because I found the Crimson Dawn ship in Toshara orbit. It was just south of the debris that is below the space station. The ramming solution also works wonderfully, just make sure you turn off collision damage in the settings. I kept taking hull damage when ramming them before I looked at the settings.

My guess is that you can proberly find each factions ship in every system but require different triggers/approaches for them to spawn. But that's to much time to spend on a hunch but if people find more I'll just add it to the guide above at some point 😊

You dont even need to fight them. just keep boosting into them but not the engine, that for some reason causes shield damage once you ram them and it keeps hurting you until you get out of the flames, so i just kept boosting in the side of them. They complain, but no reputation is lost until the ship is destroyed, and it is only for "brawling" which is barely any loss. so as long as you are a bit into the good side of the rep, ramming them to death does not hurt you in the long run.

Does this not track? Just got two, one ramming them to death and another one taking away that last little bit of shields with my lasers and missiles, but no progress.

Edit: Yeah, doesn't track, can confirm though that you don't have to use your weapons for the last hit.

I had all the Story, Collision Damage and Prevent Ion Stun settings set to "on". It felt like the ships no longer fired back. 😂
The problem was actually finding the ships at all.

Do you have to do all ships in one session or can you take out one ship, save and return to it at a later time?

@Holbath, you should enhance this guide with the actual name of the ships to look for. There are a lot of “targets” out there. Want to make sure I get the right ones ;) Cheers!

I want to also add to the above solutions that if you fly behind the capital ships and pepper them with laser fire and torpedoes they go down a lot quicker bear in mind I had a maxed out trailblazer and the help of my turret

Trailblazer Loadout:

C-10 Plasburst Cannon
PT-240 Proton Torpedoes or M-I08 Ion
TU-C6 Laser Turret
CO-BA Countermeasures

This is the way 😁

An important thing that helped me get this achievement, which is not mentioned in other guides:
After destroying the main ship, you need to destroy the small ships as well, and wait until you see a message on the left side of the screen that says your reputation is down.

In the various orbits of 3 of the game’s main planets (Toshara, Tatooine and Kijimi) there are various capital ships for each of the syndicates. In order to get the ‘Punching up’ achievement, you need to destroy all 4… without taking any hull damage.

  • B84 Viper - Ashiga Clan - To the southeast of the Nebula Core in Kijimi’s orbit.
  • SRX-T Manta - Hutt Cartel - Near the Battle Aftermath in Tatooine's orbit, in the bottom left-hand corner of the map.
  • B84 Viper - Pyke Syndicate - Again, near the Battle Aftermath in Tatooine's orbit, in the bottom left-hand corner of the map.
  • SRX-T Manta - Crimson Dawn - To the east-northeast of the Imperial base in Toshara, southside of The Crucible, above the debris there.

In terms of strategies, there’s a few here. You can line up behind it and shoot the back of it. This is a slow process, but will protect you from its missiles - this can be tricky to stay with the ship though, as it has better maneuverability. You can also strafe and hit the weak spots too while  avoiding the missiles if you’re good at that (use the CO-BA Countermeasure or the Loop Maneuver to avoid them). Whatever you do though, you should first focus on the smaller ships before taking on the main ship. Like I said, options.

I found the best strategy is (with a fully upgraded Trailblazer using the LC-70 Laser Cannon, CM-2 Arana Cluster Missiles and TU-C6 Laser Turret) to lock onto the 2 escort ships and the main ship (you can lock onto 3 targets) to trigger the fight, and then fight from distance. As the capital ship gets closer, fire your missiles, turn on the auto-turret, and then strafe past it to get some distance to allow your shields to refresh. On your way away from the capital ship, use the left on the d-pad to make sure the ship is behind you, dodge the missiles when the beep is nearly continuous and then do the Loop Maneuver to be perfectly lined up for another attack run; and then you just need to repeat the whole process. When you’re at range too, out of the missile range of the capital ship (you won’t be able to lock on either), just dodge left and right occasionally when you see its turret fire coming to avoid any danger of you losing your shields. And that, right there, is the perfect strategy.

So, just prep a save in orbit, which you can go to when you get hull damage, and don’t forget to use your repair if you start to get down to no shields (your repair will charge, but very slowly, but it is vital for this achievement).

To be honest, though, the trickiest part of this whole achievement is trying to get them to spawn. In order to do that, fly towards the planet and when it forces a land, hit cancel, and then fly to the spots mentioned above, and they should warp in then.

Kill all 4 without taking any hull damage, and the ‘Punching up’ achievement is all yours.

There are 4 capital ships: Hutt and Pyke in orbit of Tatooine, Crimson Dawn in Toshara and Ashiga south of the Kijimi Nebula. The trick is to turn off collision damage in the options. You ram the ships (not the back, otherwise you lose health) until they are weakened and then you finish them off by shooting. And of course you also have to have a good reputation with the factions so they don't attack you on sight.

A life hack on how to do this, let's say, not very quickly:
1. have a reputation of at least good in each syndicate
2. We fly into space, looking for combat ships (NOT CARGO!!!)
3. We crash into them until they fall apart, do not shoot, just crash (in the settings you can turn off damage from collisions)
The trophy is yours.

There is a problem with finding ships, but it can be solved easily.
If there is no ship, fly to the planet, when the landing menu appears, press / and we fly back, usually appears 2-3 times

There is another problem: on Kajimi the ship can only be found in the fog, so we crash and turn sharply so as not to lose sight of it. Ships like to fly away))) good luck to everyone

Pike - Tatooine (usually spawn slightly to the right of the battlefield)
Hutts - Tatooine (usually spawn slightly to the left of the battlefield)
Ashiga - kajimi
Crimson Dawn - Toshara

If you also can't catch the Hutt cartel, then here it is: go to the specified point and when you are turned around, fly to the battle point. A couple of tries and the cartel will definitely appear
