How to unlock the Into darkness achievement in Star Wars Outlaws - Definitive Guide

This is accomplished in orbit around the planet Kijimi. You need to destroy 10 enemy ships while inside the "fog" of the Kijimi Nebula.

I got this after having a fully upgraded Trailblazer, it just made it easier for me.

Easiest way I found to do this, was by attacking pirates and then flying into the Fog, powering down my engines and then I activated my turret. The turret doesn't appear to be affected by the fog, so will still shoot the enemy ships accurately. Also, I was able to shoot the enemy ships with my blasters, as they were flying towards me.

Its worth noting that I destroyed some enemy ships while I was in the Nebula (fog) but they were not. This didn't count towards my achievement progress. Only ships that were inside the nebula, counted for me.

Good way to check is missiles will not lock letting you know that they are in the fog.

Agreed -- I would pick a fight and lure them up in the clouds. Turn off burners and try to fly parallel inside the clouds so you're not flying back out. Pirates are easy kills. The counter tracks appropriately, so if a kill doesn't register, relocate.

As soon as you enter Kijimi’s orbit, one thing very early will smack you in the face, and that’s the massive nebula that covers the entirety of the area, shrouding it in a blanket of clouds, rain and general interference.

The big thing about the nebula isn’t so much its size, it’s the impact it has on your ship - and enemy ships. While flying in the nebula, you won’t be able to use any automated targeting systems for your ship. So, that means no missiles whatsoever, and the lt.png button won’t lock on properly. Sure, you’ll still be able to track their whereabouts and “lock on” but it’s useless. You’re basically flying assist free with the ‘Into darkness’ achievement, folks.

So, first things first, how do you know you’re in the nebula? Well, 1. You won’t be able to see anything, really; and 2. If the lock on is a square symbol rather than the usual diamond symbol, and you won’t be able to fire your rockets, then you’re in it.

Then, it’s just a matter of killing 10 ships, and honestly, it can be tricky as you won’t be able to see them or your tracers to see where you should be aiming. However, fly around long enough, firing wildly and aimlessly, and you’re bound to net 10 kills eventually. There are enough pirate ships in this vicinity to try it out on anyway - and also, there’s a “Defend the Freighter” world even that happens frequently too, so take advantage of that.

Just, however, make sure you don’t accidentally leave the nebula or those kills don't count!

This trophy seems to be temprament.

You need to destroy ships inside the Nebula outside of Kijimi, now, rhe way I eventually got this to unlock, after counting 10 whilst I was inside the Nebula and they didn't seem to count, was to lure ships inside with me.

They and your ship should both be in the Nebula to be safe, make sure they are Pirate ships and you don't accidentally fire on Empire ships in the area.

What the games counts as the Nebula is also contentious. It's best to bring the ship into the the dust clouds and track them using R3 to make sure they are still inside the dust when you shoot them down. The Nebula should disable your rockets, but my final destroyed ship, my rockets where active at the bottom of my screen, so after some resesrch I discovered this trophy seems to track differently user to user or it has quirks to it. Which is why I say make sure your Rockets are disabled before finishing destorying a ship and that the ship itself is in the Nebula dust using R3.

The Kijimi Nebula is in space in the Kijimi system, which is unlocked after you have completed all the main missions on Toshara and gain access to the hyperdrive.

For this to track you have to be inside the actual clouds of the Nebula, not just anywhere within it, at first I thought it was broken or not tracking when I was just flying round the "Nebula Core"

You can fly into the clouds and you don't take damage, you'll know you're inside because your weapon reticle will blur slightly and you'll be unable to lock missiles onto enemy ships.

I just flew around getting into fights with pirates, fly into the clouds, turn and shoot them with your lasers, it will unlock after 10 kills.

Enemy ships need to be destroyed precisely while in the fog: the sight becomes slightly blurry and auto-guided missiles do not work.
How I got it quickly: I found a battle of a bunch of pirates and some faction near the nebula, aggroed the enemies and flew away into the fog, where I shot those who chased me. A pumped-up turret also helps a lot.
