How to unlock the Got 'Em achievement in STAR WARS: Squadrons - Definitive Guide

Somewhat building on the solution (and comments) listed by @stealth finger's solution above, I also found this much easier with the Ion Cannon and was able to knock this one out in a single 3-hour session. For those like me tired of getting eaten alive by the LVL 200+ players out there, here is how I managed to achieve this one:

A-Wing/TIE Interceptor
- Primary: Ion Canon
- Secondary: Seeker Mines & Anti-Starfighter Missiles

I chose the Primary Ion Canon for each starfighter since it wasn't a significant departure from my low-level play style of trying to shoot everything with lasers and hoping to pick up additional kills with secondary weapons. The advantage of this approach seemingly over the Ion Missiles is the Ion Canon will not only disable the opponent's starfighter, but will also seemingly continue to cause hull damage and eventually destroy them. I personally found the Ion Missile approach difficult as the the missiles themselves are somewhat slow and only carry medium homing capability. Using the Ion Canons combined with the strong homing seeker mines and anti-starfighter missiles increases your chances of picking up the kill.

For those worried about your stats/progress using this approach, keep reminding yourself that this is a temporary build just to meet the requirements of this achievement. Using this method, many of the other players will come in and steal your kills, but you'll get a kill assist. Also, I personally died a lot using this build especially in a 1-on-1 situation where you really need to make your shots count. But, seeker mines help out a lot in this situation.

For those curious about the stats and time needed to fulfill this achievement, I played a total of 10 games using this build and racked up a total of 31 disabled starfighters, 10 kills (obviously), and just over 20 assists during that time.

This one is not as difficult as the TA Ratio would suggest, but it does take a little dedication and willingness to forego stats/progress using this methodology.

I found it much easier to use the ion cannon to disable enemies then finish them off with secondaries than to try and disable with the ion missile and finish with lasers.

I hate this ion cannon. Ad when I finally disable one, someone rushes to get my kill.

Better advice would be the ion missile, you need your (burst) lasers to finish the job quickly.

How much Kills you need to do 10 Kills every Game or only 10 Kills at all ?

Alternative setup.

New republic bomber.

Primary Ion Cannon.

Secondaries Automatic Ion Cannon and Multi Lock Missiles.

You can even crash into a disabled enemy and if you get the kill that way it counts. I disabled someone who was flying at me head on. Bomber has a ton of health which helps when you play chicken lol disabled then flew right into them an got the achievement. Perfectly doable using multi lock missile too, might wanna fire the missiles a tiny bit before when you think they’ll get stunned though. So you kill them while they’re actually disabled 👍

Exact opposite for me. Being of very meagre talent, I found it much easier to use the TIE or X Wing with ion missiles and then finish off the target with laser fire once it was disabled and unable to dodge 🤷

With the addition of the TIE Defender and its Ion Missile and the B-Wing with the combined Laser and Ion cannon this has become much easier. I mainly did it with a TIE Defender and Ion Missile combined with the Burst Cannon - after they were disabled just follow up with some quick bust which are hard to miss given that the enemy cannot evade anymore. It wasn't pretty, I felt almost bad for the enemies, especially now with so many Chrismas Newbies around.

Theoretically you could also try for the "I know a few maneuvers" achievement while doing this - disable the enemy with an Ion Missile, burst past him, immediately drop a Seeker Mine and drift but it requires some tight timing.

Modifying the fighter:

1. Primary laser
2. Ion torpedo.

After the start of the battle, we shoot at the enemy first with an ion torpedo, and then finish off with a laser. Sometimes a disabled enemy crashes into environmental objects and explodes. This also counts.
