How to unlock the Moving Up achievement in Stardew Valley - Definitive Guide

The first upgrade to your house will unlock this achievement and is required to be able to have a wife/husband move in with you.

It will cost 10'000 gold and 450 wood.
You buy it from Robin at the carpenters house north of the town and the community center.

It adds a kitchen where you can cook all the recipes you learn and a fridge you can store food in. If you have all the ingredients for a recipe in your fridge you can make it using the kitchen counter/stove, no need to put everything in your inventory.
It also upgrades your bed to a double.

Does this unlock after buying or after it’s finished? I bought it, but the achievement didn’t unlock.

this achievement did not unlock for me, even though I already received the achievement to upgrade the house to the maximum.

@eleven eighteen, @RamonGamer01 and everyone else in their position.. when you know you are about to get an achievement (you've checked the wiki and are 100% sure you understand how it is supposed to unlock) you should start a new day then upgrade your house and if the achievement doesn't pop.. reset the day and try again.. had to do that a few times in this game (you have to make a second playthrough for JoJo Co. Member of the Year achievement so it's not the end of the world but it is really annoying..)

This didn't unlock for me when I added the kitchen. I'm playing solo. Other achievements before and after have worked fine. I'll hopefully be getting the next house upgrade soon, hopefully this will unlock then.

EDIT: Took a lot longer than I thought but finally got the 2nd house upgrade, and this achievement still didn't unlock., although the one for upgrading to the max house size did unlock. Rather frustrating.
