Fight the first wave of ships and destroy the turrets, then another wave and the laser eyes on the side of the big ship. Finally avoid the missiles and enter thru the mouth / missile launcher.
Avoid a few moving lasers and hit the big reactor inside until it blows up!

Must be glitchy. I’ve finished the story and destroyed plenty of dreadnoughts, but no achievement.

weird, i got on the first one as part of the story, and there's plenty others later. Anyone else glitched ?

After you've beaten the Prime on Sonatus, story events will lead you to Vylus where you'll recruit your first Armory. After this you'll head into space to take on your first Dreadnought.
