I was struggling with this but i got by chance when I was fighting the big purple brutes with gravity bombs, on the later planets. If you have other enemies around you, dont avoid their vortex, just let yourself and the enemies be involved, and it unlocked for me.

Very simple cheevo to get and can be gotten on the very 1st planet you visit.
Equip any vortex weapon and find a group of Imps.
They always group together in 4s and 5s and will follow you.
Launch your vortex right in front of you as they approach and boom..... cheevo unlocked
