You need to use a training manual to retrain a maxed specialization.

Any survivor who has reached 7 stars in one of the core skills can use one of these training manuals to remove a specialization from that core skill and gain the option to select any standard specialization of that skill. (Cardio, Wits, Fightning or Shooting).

To encounter one of those books you need to contact a Mysterious Wandering Trader. (Only available Friday, Saturday and Sunday) (in real life of course)

Upon use the manual instantly deletes your gold tier skill back to 7 star white. Theres no confirmation screen asking if you're sure etc so be careful. The problem was I couldn't remember which characters had what choices available. Ie endurance or backpacking. There is no way to preview before committing the action. I expected it to revert me back to the choices I had previously made. In my case I had chosen shooting - assault and decided I much prefer the awesomeness of gunslinger.
But as mentioned I've no idea who may have had the option for gunslinger available.
It did seem as though through the manual I had choice of all. Not just the two offered in my initial levelling.
It would make the heavy price tag make sense as it effectively allows you to cherry pick skills into characters who didn't roll them in their initial creation.

Confirmation required. Its prolly in the game manual but I havent read one of those in a decade.

Probably a stupid question but is that Friday Saturday or Sunday in real life time or in game time, if in game time how do you tell what day of the week it is?

for anyone, like myself, that isn't able to get the mysterious trader to show up after hours and hours, I went ahead a posted a Looking for Groups (LFG) on XBLive and asked if anyone was willing to trade. Within 10 minutes I got a few offers from fellow SOD2 players that traded a book to me.

Just an option for anyone who may be having difficulties obtaining the book in the game

It took me hours to get the mysterious trader to show up and they had one of these manuals. Unfortunately they did not have any plague consumables. I guess I will keep looking.

Do that mysterious trader person only show up at a specific time throughout the weekend? Or do you need to do some whacky shit to summon them? Because I’ve played for 3 hours last Sunday and no one ever showed up on the map, tried again today (friday) for another hour and nothing once more. Pretty annoying since that’s my last achievement...

If it helps, traders show up in rotation every hour or two so I had to sit through 8h of leaving the game be while I watched some tv shows, checking every now and then. Anyways, best advice would be to not keep this achievement for last, unless you don’t really care being efficient with your time.

You don't actually need to have the specialization maxed. As long as you have one chosen you can read the books. Used a Shooting book on someone who only had 1 star in their specialization.

Is this done during campaign, heartland or daybreak?
I tried with 4 characters in Heartland and they won't change their stats.
Is it a specific character in Heartland?

Oh like destiny , he turns up certain days cool, I just came back this , so having relearn lot and see lot new stuff , not really played much or done a playthroughs , kept restarting , but this time took time , loot , and manage my ppl , lot fun thus
