How to unlock the Retrieve Biomass achievement in State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition - Definitive Guide

Just when you thought it was all over...

If you have already completed the game but then this mess was released, the entire new DLC should take less than an hour and does not require a new game. If you are in the process of completing the game, SAVE THESE FOR LAST.

Use a community you have already built. You will need to switch all 3 difficulties to "Lethal" but....

Before changing difficulties be sure to have:
-about 20 explosive/incendiaries or...
-a single deployable pyro minefield from the daybreak prestige trader~ thanks ninjaraiden2003 and Maxumilli0n but probably better to bring at least 3 total; for the jug too
-a heavy gun with plenty of ammo( I recommend .50 cal AP with at least 12 rounds; you will need 4-8 for the jug)
-Maxumilli0n recommended any of the big Cleo weapons from the Daybreak DCL/trader and also some deployable mines and fireworks too
-6 or more "blood-plague" cures
-6 or more car repair kits; you can hit about 4 zombies before a good truck starts to smoke
-you only can take 2 vehicles with you when you change difficulties. Leave your best 2 rides in the parking space only
State of Decay 2: Juggernaut EditionBless Me Now With Your Fierce Tearsbobby trippeThe Bless Me Now With Your Fierce Tears achievement in State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition worth 21 pointsBegin a session with minimum difficulty set to Lethal.

After changing difficulties, take all the explosives, (OR THE DEPLOYABLE-PYRO-MINEFIELD) a good gun, some health and the plague cure. Take a partner with you and drive to a look-out point or use the radio to find a plague-heart and drive carefully out to the location. If at any point you get overwhelmed, quit the game. Damage the plague-heart with explosives. Remember to stagger them and when it rumbles it is immune to damage. All damage to the plague heart saves after you quit. Or just use one deployable pyro minefield.

By this point, you may have come across some of the plague "freaks". You need to kill one of each; screamer, bloater, feral and juggernaut. You can take out the screamer and feral with a car but will probably have an easier time with a partner and melee with the feral. Definitely shoot the bloater. For the jug, I would scout one out, then lure it somewhere that you can climb. Once up, high shoot it with something strong. A deloyable-pyro-minefild should work too.

For the last one, you can find the 25 plague-bloaters in the "Heartland" DLC too. It should be much easier there.

This roughly took me 20 minutes with a good community. Probably less if you modded your community.

Thanks for the advice Max. I think I'll add those details if you don't mind.

Yeah I think the 2 hours is a strong exaggeration on my part. I play very cautiously because I feared losing any of my great community. In the event of even more DLC, I would to hold on to as much of my team as possible. I also experimented with the difficulty settings(not all 3) which you answered for me in your solution fabian.

Try spinning the building? Curving the bullet trajectory?

In all seriousness, maybe some zombait, faircrackers or a boombox?

Fuzzmeister, try standing on top of a truck or most maps have a small military outpost, those have elevated positions, ladders.

Destroyed a plague heart and got the achievement just front planting 1 Deployable Pyro Minefield I went and bought from the Daybreak Prestige Trader. Not sure if it was meant to destroy it that easily but it did laugh

@ninjaraiden2003 exactly what I did but I guess I positioned it not close enough so I had to put a few shots of the blast rfle into it.

Wow, that sounds way easier than multiple explosives and fending off the hoards/restarting. Thanks for insight. I will post your discoveries if you dont mind.

I'm currently finishing my last legacy on nightmare, haven't started lethal. Would it be possible to use my nightmare group, switch to lethal, get the achievements, then switch back and finish my playthough?

@Sir Lagselot I guess you could but it's a horrible amount of work. Setting the game to lethal will reset you to a beginning base camp. I'd finish that play through and then when you get back to the game set it to lethal.

Sir Lagselot, it is certainly possible but not advisable. You can keep all your items and community by finishing your last legacy off-line. Right before you choose the option to finish your last legacy switch your settings to offline. Just as you finish the game and you see your character standing at the hill or whatever in the final scene you can delete your local save. When you go back on-line the achievements should pop. After you have your last legacy achievement, you can certainly switch difficulties for the last time.

Ahhhh, that's right. I totally forgot switching difficulty would restart my progress. I think I'll start a new map instead, maybe see if I can get a friend to join me and we'll knock out all the lethal achievements in one go. Thanks for the advice!

Good guide but for those who have completed the Daybreak or grinded it out, all of these are easily done in under an hour(besides bloaters which is retroactive). They should have access to blast rifle, fireworks and deployable mines. If not call the Daybreak trader and buy some. Then use the radio again to look for a plague heart. You can easily distract with fireworks, run in, drop the mines and dip out or if you prefer use the blast rifle on the heart. Also, I don't recommend doing this at night you will not make it lol

Start a new game in lethal mode with any survivors you want - veterans, newbies, randoms - it doesn't matter. Contact the Daybreak prestige trader via radio and buy a 3-pack of remote grenades for 210 prestige points. (You can earn this from completing 2 waves of Daybreak.) Find a plague heart and clear the zombies around it so you have the area to yourself. Throw a remote grenade at the heart. Stand back and detonate it. Do this two more times. Achievement unlocked.
