How to unlock the The Next Generation achievement in State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition - Definitive Guide

So it seems people keep down voting the other two solutions.

Play the game and destroy the big hearts. I had to use my radio to find the locations of 5 of them.

My first Hero was a Sheriff so I had to defend the home of my allies and then attack the bad guys.

After killing the final boss, a small video plays and then the credit roll. 5 minutes later I am asked to select legacies. Since my first play through was Sheriff, this is my only option. I am then asked to select 3 survivors from first play through.

Before you start the very last mission, it tells you that it is the point of no return and lets you delay starting it. Choose not to start it and load up all of the characters you are not using in the final mission with your most rare/best loot because you lose everything that is not in a character's personal inventory.

When you complete the last mission, and restart with up to 3 existing members, you get everything that was in their inventories when the final mission ended. So, you can load up some favorite weapons, health, ammo, gas, rucksacks of materials, or other rare items into character inventories to help you start a new map. The leader has to play the final mission, so their inventory may have less room for goodies as you don't want to fail the last mission.

Additionally, you have 3 save spots to run 3 different maps simultaneously. After finishing one map, all the recruited characters left over from the completed map can be added one time only to any new/rebooted save slots.

So, when you finish the final mission, you can have up to 3 survivors from that map added into the new map, or roll new characters. Any other survivors from that map can be added to other new/rebooted save slots.

Could someone please elaborate further on this achievement? I swear I've done every variation I could with my followers from starting fresh communities to using old ones with characters I've used and beat the map with in past sessions to no hope of unlocking this achievement that should be simple.

UPDATE: My group of 3 survivors with completions have completed the game with (all of them having legacies) beat the game, continued with community and loaded up the next map with no achievement unlock. 2) Once I completed the final mission on the next map, I moved those same 3 survivors to the legacy pool and disbanded the community. It brought me to the main menu where it allowed me to start a new community. I then selected those same 3 survivors as requested when you select your boons and proceeded to beat the game once more with no achievement unlock. I'm about to bring those survivors to another community that I started awhile ago to see if anything changes.

Do you need just 1 survivor or a whole squad consisting of nothing but legacy/map completed survivors for this to unlock?

Say, I have the sheriff A as the leader in playthrough 1. Can I also select this sheriff A as a survivor in playthrough 2 (if I need the other achievements, for example trader/builder as the leader ones)

Question: Upon completing your first legacy, do you automatically have to start a new one with your characters, or is there a pause point where you can back out to the menu or just shut off the game? I ask because I redeem Achievements for Microsoft Rewards Point and prefer to avoid unlocking two achievements at once whenever possible, and this sounds like it might be a double-unlock.

@ALLSETFORMOVE Yes. I've just finished first playthrough with a sheriff in charge, then took her (and 2 other characters) to second playthrough. They have all now reset their standing to Citizens again. Any character has to get enough experience again to max out their standing to Hero, and then I can appoint them to be the new leader.

Different characters are suited to be different types of leaders, based on personality and Skills, so you just need to promote a different one this time.
(They do keep any existing Skills they had from first playthrough when you take them to second playthrough.)

It seems to be bugged for me as well. I’m going to wipe my save data and start over fresh with a new community and see if that fixes it.

UPDATE 9/19/22:

There definitely was a bug that occured during Update 30 "Forever Community/Legacy" that prevented this achievement from being obtained. Hotfix came out today which specifically fixes this issue. I ended up going on the game a few minutes ago, loaded a new community save file with some spare characters I beat the game with previously (each one had 2-4+ map clear counters) and after walking towards the new base (didn't even reach it) the achievement popped up right away securing my 100% completion.

Thank you UndeadLabs, fellow trueachievement hunters and anyone else that was involved with reporting this for helping find a solution quickly! Can't wait for the 3rd installment for this series!
