How to unlock the I'll Be There For You achievement in State of Decay - Definitive Guide

You will earn most fame before you beat the game, by then you should be above 450 fame easy and more likely closer too 480. First thing is make sure you did all storyline quests, those are the quests with achievements attached. Now the fun part. Every time you gain a level in a skill, you get one fame. So go grab your weak and pitiful and level them up. My preferred method is to use snacks and get some cardio up, grab guns and go shooting, and go bash some skulls in. I would usually stop at level 3 and switch for another guy just to cut out some time.

Rumor : If you complete the game and start a new one at some point you earn 300 fame. I read this in many places across the web, needs to be confirmed however.

I'm not sure if this is true but I had about 375 fame when I was playing last night but after one of my survivors died that were considered "famous" or some because I got a lot of missions done as them then I looked at my fame level in the stat screen and it said I then had 100 fame!? Then I started freaking out saying "where the hell did all my fame go?" So I decided to figure out if this was a glitch by helping a other survivor out with one of there missions and after I helped them out with there mission it then said I had 101 fame!? instead of thinking it would put my fame level all the way back up to where it was at before that was about 375 fame for me like some times for glitched achievements in other games.

So this is making me to believe that YOU CAN LOSE FAME!!! if your survivors start dieing that were considered "famous" or what or if this is just a bad glitch that the developers have to patch up or what but I'm REALLY MAD about this.angry

I only played as the starting character throughout the whole game. I leveled him up to his max (including his weapon specialization) and by the time I finished all the other missions, collected survivors from the courthouse, and built up my base, I had over 500 fame. Wish I could help more than that.

There is something else that gets you fame, i unfortunately as well as others, don't have our fingers on it yet. It must be certain mission types, maybe when you clear houses, i don't know. But at least this is something that can work if you can't find out. I was at 487 fame when i beat the game.

I have 2 friends who have over 500 fame on the leaderboards and dont have the achievement, both started new games, I hit 500 fame on the leaderboards and unlocked the achievement without starting any new game. I can confirm this is in 1 playthrough.

For those that are worried about having enough fame on the leaderboards but not having the achievement pop: check your in-game fame. Go to the menu and then the assets tab. You can find your true fame level there.

are you supposed to get fame from the final mission? I did mission and beat it, but instead of watching the credits, I hit the b button to skip them and when it puts you back to the point before doing the final mission, my fame level is still the same as it was the first time

I myself received zero fame from the final mission.

Concerning the rumor: I was halfway through the game but restarted after TU2 was released. When I reached Spencer's Mill I already had 300 (in-game) fame and I reached 500 (in-game) fame (and around 700 fame on the leaderboards) before even finishing the military/bridge mission or wilkerson storyline. The achievement unlocked when I found 2 new survivors in Marshall (at the court house) and escorted them to my home base. So apparently you don't only get fame for doing story missions? This could also be some kind of glitch though smile

Honestly I think some of their programming involved with fame is messed. I have never failed to gain fame off of levels, and I have seen fame come from some side missions and then not from some side missions that are the exact same type.

UPDATE: To my last comment I've been playing the game for the past 2 nights and it still hasin't put my fame back to where it was before and that was about 375. But ever since then after it reset my fame I have gotten fame from progression and now I have about 150 only 50 more fame since it reset my fame and now I'm afraid I'm going to have to play the whole game again to get this achievement. But when I look at my total fame on the leaderboards in the game it says its about 425 fame 50 more fame past what I had before it reset my fame level that is probably the fame I've got since then.

After I beat my 1st playthough I guess I'm going to start my 2nd playthough and I REALLY hope that rumor where you get 300 fame when you start your 2nd playthough or what ever is true because I just really want to get this achievement so I can 100% this game.cry

You dont need to grind the last 25 fame if you're at the end of the game - Just get up to 475 and then complete the final mission; This'll give you the last 25 fame you need and the achievement will unlock.

This is what I did and it worked perfectly.

FYI : In State of Decay original (not Year One edition, but it probably works on this one too), you can grab "I'll Be There For You" achievement in the Breakdown DLC.

You earn fame by doing missions around the community. I didnt get the 500 fame tell the very last mission. So just keep doing misions through out the game and if you want to check how much fame you have press start and go to leaderboards and go to the one that says most fame earned. (sorry if these guides arent that good, im new at posting guides and im doing it from the ie app on the console so i cant make it look nice lol)

This is for getting 500 fame, you can get around 450 fame from just completing the story missions.

Once you have done the game you will be about 50 fame short. The other way to get fame is from levelling up. You get 1 fame for each level. By the time you get to the end of the game you should of levelled up a fair amount. i was missing about 25 - 30 fame.

So what i did was go to my base, select the lowest characters and go and try to level them up as quick as i can so i got my fame up quickly.

I repeated this a few times and eventually got my achievement!

Fame is gained primarily through completing the primary quest objectives and leveling up your characters. You will want to spend quite a bit of time leveling up multiple characters, because even with a few maxed characters and all of the story fame, I still got this achievement shortly before finishing the game.

Fame is given for completing story missions and leveling up your skills. You won’t be able to recruit just missions; I recommend taking each character and improving his cardiovascular skills: running, jumping.

The easiest way is to level up the skills of each character, + this is how you can quickly level up your killing skill
