How to unlock the War Never Changes achievement in State of Decay: Year-One - Definitive Guide

During the Lifeline DLC you will get a call on the radio from a man called sasquatch asking you to pick him up, make sure you do it as soon as possible and don't let him die. Once he's returned to base he will give you four missions to do giving you the

State of Decay: Year-OneFreak HuntThe Freak Hunt achievement in State of Decay: Year-One worth 40 pointsComplete all hunting missions with Sasquatch.

If he dies at any time during these missions it will void this achievement. After the missions are complete, he will go missing. Make sure you head quickly to the tunnel and try not to let him die. Once there he will show you the nuke he has and return back to base with you.

You then have the option of setting off the nuke now by speaking to him and will have to do one last siege before escaping with your achievement.

What happens if you don't speak to him when the final mission of his pops up? Can you defer it indefinitely or will it expire in time or after the next siege for example?

You can defer indefinitely. I waited 2 sieges until I got the 10 siege achievements and than activated his mission.

This is an achievement for 1 of the 2 alternate endings.

In order to get this achievement you must ensure Sasquatch's survival, complete all his hunting missions and ultimately, save him from the Danger Zone where he is storing the Nuke. He will then offer the option to arm the nuke whenever you talk to him back at the base.

Arming the nuke will reward you with this achievement however it will void the other achievement where you must evacuate with Vienna Cho in your community.

**There is a way to unlock the achievements for both endings in one play though by using the cloud save as a backup. Get to the end of the game where you have Vienna Cho in your community AND have the option of arming the nuke. Once you are at this point, disconnect from Xbox Live and continue playing offline.

Complete the criteria for either of the achievements and wait til the game loads back up into the title screen after the credits. Delete the save for State of Decay off of your console and then connect back to Xbox Live. Once you boot up the game again, you will be awarded the achievement for having completed the criteria. Now just go for the other achievement while connected to Xbox Live and you saved yourself ~5 hours.

you get to that part, go offline, fulfill the requirements AND beat the game. then you delete the save and go back online, the achievement will unlock and you will be able to continue from where you left off and do the other story ending for the other achievement

You go to manage game and your local save file should be to the right, delete that before getting online again.

@TOXIC TAZ Did you delete the save from both your console and the cloud? If you do that, yes, the save is gone. When you delete saves, it gives the option to delete either both or just from the console.

Only delete it from your console when your offline.

Dude what the fuck were you suppose to delete? Could you have been any less clear? I deleted Lifeline from my console because I figured that would be where the save is. Now I cannot get it to download back onto my console because it was a bundle.

After finally downloading again it is wanting me to start a new game as well. There is nothing about continuing. This guide is bullshit.

Can't get this to work, tried twice now. Armed the nuclear bomb and extracted both times. Still have my save from before going offline but, not getting credit for what was done offline... Also, there are no credits for Lifeline, just the endgame screen with the scorecard.

EDIT- OK, so I tried a third time. This time I disarmed the nuke and evacuated. Also, based on a comment above, I tried connecting to Live before deleting my local save (before loading the game though). No achievement, and save data was gone. So yeah, don't try that. Three times to no avail though.

Whenever you are connected to XBL it always saves to the cloud. If you are offline then it reads the last save that was synchronized when you were online. As long as you dont connect back to XBL you can do whatever you want without it overwriting your cloud save as long as you delete it before going back online.

This solution was spot-on. Thanks for the tip about going offline. Just a heads up to anyone that may not know this: You have to make your Xbox your "Home" Xbox in order to play games offline. Something I didn't know and had to do before I was able to play offline. As far as how to delete the local save for the game, that was described well enough to where I had no issues doing this. Thank you O for oVR.
