How to unlock the Rook: Luxembourg achievement in Steelrising - Definitive Guide
This fight can be a bit of a pain if you have low resistance to all 3 affinities (frost, fire, fulmination) and/or have close-range weapons.
The Alchemist spends alot of its time going on the defensive and backing away from you to throw grenades or shoot a cannon at you, so you will need to be patient and learn the right timing to get in close and deal damage.
- Right off the bat, the Alchemist will throw vials in an arc in front of him quite frequently which inflict frost build-up but are very easy to block or dodge away from.
- The Alchemist has a mortar and pestle that it uses as a blunt force weapon. It will swing the mortar (bowl in right hand) around him in a circle if you are attacking him up close, and it will try to hit you with the pestle in its other hand as well. These attacks don't do much damage and aren't much of a concern though.
- Usually right after throwing the frost vials in an arc in front of it, it will shoot a cannon at you twice which will inflict fire build-up if you don't block it or dodge to the side in time.
Once at half health the Alchemist will start doing some very hard-hitting AoE elemental attacks.
1.) Once or twice the Alchemist will slam it's mortar on the front infusing it with ice and inflict a huge explosion of frost all around it. This attack is VERY devastating and can be a one hit kill if you're caught in the frost explosion without enough health to save you, to be safe if you see the Alchemist raise it's mortar up back away real quick to be safe.
2.) A couple times throughout the second half of the fight the Alchemist will heat up its chimney (head) causing it to combust, sending a devastating wave of fire all around it. The ground all around the Alchemist will glow orange for a second or two before the flames appear, this is your warning to back off very quickly lest you get barbecued.
3.) As you get closer to a third of the Alchemist's health bar it will hold its arm with the pestle out in front of it and release a huge stream of lightning in front of it, as long as you dodge to the side very quickly you'll be safe from getting hit. The best thing about this attack is that the Alchemist is stuck in one position and unable to move till the lightning stops, therefore you can get in a few good hits from the side or behind before the attack stops.
4.) With around a quarter of its health left the Alchemist will start using it ram ability. The Alchemist will only do this move when it is out of your reach, it'll suddenly charge towards to very quickly and either slam into you or kick you. You will however have a quick warning sign before the Alchemist does this attack. Same as lesser enemies (e.g. lancers before they jump at you and bowl you over with their body) either side of it's health will get the red lines either side of it to indicate its about to charge. You will only have about a second to react and dodge out of the way before the Alchemist will slam into you and knock you down.
All-in-all pace yourself and think strategically before attacking and you'll kill the Alchemist in no time.
Make sure to loot the Alchemist's body immediately after the cutscene to ensure you get the orichalcum of its corpse (needed to upgrade a weapon to lv 5).
If you leave the area or wait too long it might despawn or bug out causing you to miss out on the orichalcum (credit to Powerpyx for mentioning this on his trophy guide).
