How to unlock the Enlightened Times achievement in Stellaris - Definitive Guide

This guide is post-First Contact DLC.

This achievement changed with the first contact update. It's not just a simple button that says enlighten like it used to be. This guide uses the route where you reveal yourself to the pre-sapient. It's supposedly possible to do it covertly without revealing yourself, but I tried all of the actions through espionage, and nothing worked. The only one not done was the infiltrate government, but that espionage objective can't be performed until the species reaches Early Space Age.

1. Find a bronze or stone age primitive (pre-sapient).
2. Use espionage to increase awareness, this takes a while, and I found doing this on a stone age primitive was easier. This helps to prevent stellar shock, which will make it, in many cases, impossible to do step 4.
3. Reveal presence through diplomacy.
4. Provide Technology and Offer societal Guidance.
5. Let it run its course. Once the primitive becomes space-faring, the achievement will pop. This takes about 50 years from the stone age.

I achieved this with low awareness. However, I had three interstellar assemblies, and I was Emperor then.

Just as a note, if you reveal yourself right away the shell shock state lasts 70+ years.

> Can't be completed if fanatic xenophobe
> Needs Ironman

Step #1
> Create a galaxy of the size you want, the form you want, but with only 1 AI and maximum habitable planets (x5)
> Ring tiny galaxy will permit quick search but less chances to find what you're looking for

Step #2
> Find a pre-FTL species at the bronze age
> Build a scientific station above the planet (and frontier outpost if outside your territory)
> Enlighten the hell out of them
> wait patiently without dying to the AI
> Make sure the pre-FTL bronze civilisation doesn't wipe out itself during the atomic and early spatial age
> Boom, one free achievement

That's all

This guide is a quick and efficient way to obtain the achievement, but it can be completed through others means or during one of your casual games

The process lasts a really LONG time, so as soon as you have discovered the corresponding world, immediately try to get it into your empire, and then begin the process of enlightenment.
