How to unlock the Tend the Garden achievement in Stellaris - Definitive Guide

This achievement requires the Plantoid DLC to unlock, but you do NOT need to play with your race set to Plantoid to earn the achievement.

You need the Environmentalist civic (so you can't play as a Gestalt or Corporate empire, and you can't have the Relentless Industrialists civic. Start a tiny galaxy with no AI, crisis, maruaders, etc. Expand until you find the Wenkwort system and don't attack the custodians. When you can, settle the Wenkwort Artem system and agree to the request to avoid industrialization. Do not build anything or clear any blockers.

You will need to research Resort World which is a society research option available after you research Artificial Moral Codes. You can increase the chances of it showing up as an option by having the Technological Ascendancy ascension perk, having the Technocracy civic, and ensuring that your research leader has the Statecraft expertise.

Once you have researched Resort World, open the planet view for Wenkwort Artem and click on Decisions in the upper left corner and choose to convert to a Resort World (requires 1000 Unity). Then build Ranger Lodge. The achievement should unlock as soon as the Lodge is done building.

Start a new game with the "Environmentalist" Civic. This will give you access to the Ranger Lodge.

Play on a medium or larger map. You're looking for a system called Wenkwort. It is supposed to be a guaranteed spawn, but this is NOT true for smaller maps. I've always had it on medium. (Weirdly, it seems to almost always spawn on the left side of the map for me, but I don't know if that's just RNG).

You need to beat your opponents to the system. You could always play with zero empires, and just explore the galaxy until you find it, but if you're playing against AI you need to get there first. If they build anything or upgrade the capital on the planet you can't get the achievement and need to start over.

Colonize the planet with the "Wenkwort Gardens" modifier. There can be multiple planets in that system, but the right one will trigger dialogue with a robot. Agree to keep the planet pure.

Immediately declare it a resort world if you have access to the technology. Otherwise make sure to not build anything there/create districts or allow too many pops to resettle there and create unrest until you get the resort world tech. The "Technological Ascendancy" Ascension Perk increases the chances of rare Technologies occurring. Make the colony a resort.

Once the colony is a resort, build a ranger lodge and you should get the achievement.

Let's take one of the default empires called "Voor Technocracy".
We charge a small galaxy with 200 planets, WITHOUT AI and fallen empires
Explore the galaxy until you find the Wankworth system, and DO NOT attack the Gardener Drones that fly around the system.
Populate the planet Wankworth Artem and agree to the terms of residence.
Don't build anything or modify the planet.
You will also need to research “Resort World” in the sociological research branch.
Once you've explored Resort World, open the planet Wankworth Artem, click on Solutions in the top right corner and select Resort World Conversion. Then build a Ranger Outpost. The achievement will be unlocked as soon as the house is built.
