How to unlock the AC/DC Premium Goal Wizard achievement in Stern Pinball Arcade - Definitive Guide

This is going to be pretty difficult to achieve, but I’ll try to help out the best I can. Good luck with this one. As always, you cannot start completing Wizard Goals until you have completed all of the Standard Goals first. Here’s how you conquer AC/DC’s Wizard Goals:

Score a 75 Million Song Jackpot: This one is extremely challenging. The Song Jackpot is scored by hitting either ramp and loading the cannon. The display will tell you you’re aiming for a Song Jackpot and how many points it’ll be worth if you hit it. Unless you’re amazing, you probably won’t get this on the first try (your first ramp shot in the game will load the cannon to score the Jackpot). To relight the Song Jackpot, you must complete F-I-R-E in the in/outlanes 3 times. Remember that you can move already lit letters with the flippers.

To increase the Song Jackpot, simply play song modes normally. Every song related shot you make adds the points you earned to the Song Jackpot. Once you have reached 75 million or higher, simply light the cannon by spelling F-I-R-E enough times and then hitting a ramp. To actually score the Jackpot, let the cannon swing out. When it’s facing the middle target of the AC/DC row of targets to the left, fire! If you hit it, you’ll score the big chunk o’ points and the goal. This must be done on ONE BALL as the Jackpot resets every ball.

Strategy: Thunderstuck is a very good song for this, as the ball bangs into these targets a LOT just by accident. Also, keep multiballs going whenever possible, you will be shocked how quickly the Jackpot jumps up with this song and a good multiball going. USE YOUR MULTIPLIERS. This could drastically reduce your effort needed. Hitting the Bell enough times starts 2X playfield multipliers, and hitting it a few more times while 2X is running starts 3X. The display does NOT show the multiplied values, so you must keep track yourself whether the Jackpot is big enough to collect. Never collect the Jackpot if you’re not sure if it’s large enough; if you collect the Song Jackpot, the value resets and you’ll have to start over if it’s below 75 million.

Collect a Special: There’s only one way to get a Special on AC/DC: the targets. You must complete the AC/DC, TNT and ROCK targets 5 times each. This starts the Special light flashing. How do you collect it, you ask? As if completing all of those damn targets wasn’t enough trouble, you need to complete all three target banks AGAIN to actually collect the Special. Have fun!

Score a Triple Multiball Jackpot: This involves the three main multiballs of the game: Jam, Album and Tour. This is as bad as it sounds: you need to start all 3 at the same time. Light Jam by hitting ramp shots. Light Album by completing banks of targets. Light Tour by hitting loops (leftmost and rightmost shots). Once one of the multiballs is lit, AVOID THE RIGHT RAMP AT ALL COSTS! If you accidentally hit the ramp, that multiball will begin and progress towards that multiball is reset once it is over.
Once all three are flashing, hit the right ramp to start the triple multiball. At this point, complete any ramp, loop or target bank to collect a Jackpot and collect your goal. Hit the A button if the button in the upper right corner is blinking, it’ll spot a shot for you.

Activate 3X Scoring: Get good at the Bell shot and this goal is cake. Hitting the Bell enough times (I think 3 or 4) starts 2X scoring. While 2X is running, continue hitting the bell. If you can hit the bell another 3 or 4 times before 2X times out, you will begin 3X scoring, thus completing the goal.

Activate Encore: Behold, the behemoth goal! Encore is the wizard mode of AC/DC, and is EXTREMELY difficult to get to. To qualify for Encore, you must play and survive all 12 songs in the game. You pick a song to start the game, and to relight the Jukebox to start another song, you must complete 8 of any of the following:

-AC/DC target bank
-TNT target bank
-ROCK target bank
-Completing F-I-R-E above the flippers
-Hitting all 3 blue Thunderbolt targets (two on the sides of the left ramp, third one to the right of the right ramp)
-Left loop
-Right loop
-Left ramp
-Right ramp
-Bell
-Enough pop bumper hits
-Completing the three lanes above the bumpers (remember to change the lit light with the flippers to make this easier)

Once the 8th one is completed, the right loop lights to change the song. Rinse and repeat 11 more times. I suggest playing them in the game’s order so you remember which songs you’ve played. Once you have played all 12 songs, if you did it correctly, the next time you’re in the song select menu, hit the right flipper and Encore should appear. Select it to complete the goal and play this awesome wizard mode!

NOTE: During each song, one shot will NOT qualify towards the 8 you need to relight the jukebox. For instance, if you’re playing TNT, completing the TNT targets do not count as one of the 8 shots required to change the song. Each song disables a different shot, so beware! I will provide the exact list if requested.

Strategy: Multiball, multiball, multiball! With more balls bouncing around, the Jukebox lights up much more quickly (although you’ll have to go back to 1 ball play to actually be able to change the song). Don’t bother stacking them, just cash in on them as soon as one is lit (more opportunities are more important than more balls in play. Besides, you get an additional ball for collecting all jackpots, anyway!). You need to be patient, learn the feel of the game, and learn what is risky and what isn’t. Proper nudging is a necessity, too. Completing all three target banks twice lights extra ball as well, so use it. You’ll feel great once you get it, I promise!

That’s how you do it. If you have any questions, noticed a mistake or still need some more help, send me a message or leave a comment below!
