How to unlock the Mustang Premium Goal Wizard achievement in Stern Pinball Arcade - Definitive Guide

Wizard goals become available after you complete all of the Standard ones. Here's the rundown for what to do for the Mustang Wizard Goals:

Activate Mustang Multiball: In the middle of the playfield right above the Gears targets is a rotating model of a Mustang car on a circular platform. The platform is divided into 7 sections, one for each letter in Mustang. Hit the Mustang Store (to the right of the Gears targets) while the car is rotating to collect the letter currently flashing (you'll also notice on the back wall of the game there are the letters for M-U-S-T-A-N-G, the currently available letter to be collected will be flashing). Usually your opportunities are at the start of the game, once during a mode and once after the mode ends. Time your shot to when the letter you want is flashing. Hitting the Store while the car is on a letter you already have is a waste, so don't do that. Opportunities to collect letters can be scarce, so use the Mystery Ford to help you out by hitting the ramp when it's flashing, usually after just completing a mode. You can potentially get one or three Mustang letters just from that alone! Once all letters have been collected, hit the Mustang store to start the multiball and collect your goal.

Complete Stunt Driver in One Take: Choose the Stunt Driver mode right off the bat. Basically, this goal requires you to complete the mode without taking too much time in between shots. The shots are:

1. Any Gears target
2. Left Ramp
3. Left ramp or right orbit
4. Three choices for the final shot: right orbit, captive ball (to the right), or the right standup.

If you take too long to make a shot, you'll hear the director shout for Take 2. At this point, you should just restart the game and try again.

Strategy: Keep an eye on the button symbol in the upper right corner of the screen. If it's blinking, you can hit it using A to score you a free shot if you're running short on time (making a shot resets the take timer).

Collect an Upgrade Scoring Total: You get this by starting Upgrade Scoring and making at least one successful shot during the mode. Here are the upgrades you must collect:

1. Nitrous- Hit the 3 purple targets, then the N20 target all the way on the left. This will give you a multiplier and the upgrade.
2. Body mods- Light all 4 pony rollovers at the top of the table (where the ball goes when you first launch it). Use those flippers to change which lights are lit so you can complete the lanes faster, you want the ball to roll through unlit lanes.
3. Drive train- Complete the G-E-A-R-S target bank.
4. Engine- Hit all 3 RPM standup targets. They are marked by white lights on the right wall of the game, roughly halfway up.
5. Tires- Hit the captive ball (marked by a red light) 3 times.
6. Handling- Get enough pop bumper hits to complete level 1, which will net you the upgrade. When the ball is bouncing around in there, the display will count down how many hits you have left.
7. Tech- Light all 4 Ford lights on the top lanes (same place as the pony lights, separate row). Again, use the flippers to steer the lights so that the ball roll through unlit lanes quicker.

Once all of them have been collected, the Mustang Store lights to start Upgrade Scoring (the game will announce it for you to hear). Once started, the N20 targets all begin flashing. This is your first shot, and the only shot you need to make minimum to get the goal. Don't panic: the goal pops when the mode officially ends!

Activate 6 Ball Gear Multiball: This one is worth the struggle, as the points you can get from this are staggering. This mode revolves around the Gears targets in the center of the game. Every time you complete the Gears targets, you advance one gear, starting from 1. Once you reach Gear 4, though, they up the ante: to get to 5, you have to not only knock down all of the Gears targets but you also have approximately 5 seconds afterwards to hit one of the two targets BEHIND the drop targets as well! If you're too slow, the Gears targets reset and you must do it again. In order for the last target hit to count, ALL Gears targets must be down; you can't sneak a shot into the standup in back while one or more drops are still up. Same system applies for getting to Gear 6, except now you must hit BOTH targets behind the Gears target bank within 5 or so seconds. Once you're at Gear 6, simply hit the Mustang Store to start the action and collect your goal.

Strategy: Once you reach Gear 3, the Mustang Store lights to begin Gear Shift Multiball. If you accidentally get the ball in there before you reach Gear 6, you're still okay: once the animations are done playing, you'll hear a voice go "Multiball in 3...2...1...". Hit both flippers during the countdown (it's slow) to abort the countdown (and the multiball) and continue playing like normal. If you end up playing the multiball, the gears will reset at the end of multiball, so abort when you need to. Also, it doesn't have to all be done on one ball: gears are remembered between balls, however the Gears targets themselves reset if you drain and had any knocked down.

Activate Silverball Stampede: This is going to be a major hurdle towards this achievement. This goal requires you to start and COMPLETE every Mustang Event mode (Cruisin', Road Course, Police Pursuit, Stunt Driver, Drag Race, Rally Race and Drift Race). You start a mode right away when you launch your first ball, you start later modes by hitting the Mustang Store. Once the first 6 modes have been played, Drift Race lights. Drift Race does NOT need to be won to qualify it towards Silverball Stampede, however the other 6 modes DO. You can tell which ones are completed via the lights on the playfield; events that were played but never finished will blink slowly, completed events will stay solidly lit. Once Drift Race ends, if there are any events you have not completed, you must go back and finish them before Silverball Stampede lights at the Mustang Store. Once everything is completed, hit the Store to start the wizard mode and get your prize.

Strategy: To keep this from going on too long, I'll spare you the description of every mode (I'll add them in if requested, however you can always look at the instructions in the menus under "Extras" to see how they work). After you complete your first event, Extra Ball lights at the N20 target. Use it well. Use multiballs to help clear modes faster and always hit A when the button in the upper right hand corner of the screen is blinking, it spots a shot for you!
