How to unlock the Epic Campaign achievement in Stormrise - Definitive Guide
These difficulty achievements DO NOT stack so you will not get this by just playing this on hard.
Also there will be a walkthrough soon to help out. I already finished it and am just waiting for it to be published.
This is generally easy, I did it on normal to start, if you start on HARD difficulty you will not unlock this one, you must beat it on EASY or NORMAL. I would recommend doing this one because HARD isn't hard because of difficulty, but because its hard to get used to playing this game. If you play NORMAL or EASY you will get the basics of the game and will know how to do every mission. If you want help on any mission, each achievement for every mission has someone that has some advice for the mission.
Some general tips I found while playing the game:
1) While on a unit hit LB on another unit to make them into a group.
2) Hero's Regenerate but use them wisely, if you lose any main characters you lose.
3) While building units where your marker is aiming is where your units will go that are being built.
4) Make sure to capture all control points leading to the end of a map, if you skip any you will not get resources from the bases you get.
5) If you get a base, everytime you build turrets or Shields you will lose a small amount from what you make overall.
6) The missions are usually really short, so don't spend too much time massing an army when it is not necessary.
7) Save about everytime you attack with your Hero's or capture a base this will be very useful.
If anyone has anymore tips that I was missing let me know, if I get anymore I will add them to the list.
As the trophy says you have to finish every mission of the campaign in either easy or normal mode so I recommend you to play on easy. Most of the missions aren't very hard and brute force works well most of the time but some battle will require a little bit of strategy. Thankfully, your teammates give you hints and secondary objectives to help you out on the battlefield. I can give you some tips myself, which work most of the time:
- Take your time! There's no need to send your troops rushing the enemy lines, they will most of the time end up dead and your nodes will get captured. Instead, take the time to upgrade your nodes once you capture them. Make them secured by letting some troops around it, moreover when on the way of the enemy. If you feel you can't take a node because it is too well defended, then build a larger number of troops and send them all at once.
- Talking about sending troops to battle. You will quickly notice that aiming at an enemy icon isn't really efficient as your unit moves right into them if you do so. Instead try moving them near an enemy unit, they will set themselves up quicker and shoot the enemy from a distance.
- Save often! The game has a very handy save system, which allows you to save anywhere during the battle. If you think you have done well until now, then save so you can start over from there if you mess up in the end but be careful because you only have one so if you save several times then the newer saves will erase the older ones. Note that the save is also useful for grinding some trophy requiring kills. Even if you reload the game without saving, your kills are still taken into account.
- Once you have captured a node and want to upgrade it, think quickly about what's your immediate need. If enemy units are moving towards that node, then you may want to build and upgrade the turret and the shield too so they support you in battle. If not, then you had better upgrade the refinery so you gain currency faster and more currency means plenty of troops. If you need to rebuild an army you can invest in a teleporter so your units spawn closer to the frontline.
- This brings another tips, a basic one yet not made explicit in the game. You can aim at anything while buying troops to give them the immediate order to go where you were aiming once spawned. This is great to send troops capturing a point or harassing an enemy node while you're busy with something else.
- Always regroup your troops together (hold and to validate). You can group up to three units together to make somewhat a bigger one, which help you move your troops more easily and they also get more efficient in number. You can group different kind of troops but I prefer uniformed groups as different units can slow themselves down and their abilities tend to malfunction. You can see any unit health by pressing and put a unit out of the group by holding , whipping on it and give it an order.
- Do not hesitate to use your commanders in battle, they have a strong firepower, more than decent defense, they can regenerate life off battle and they have a lot of useful abilities such as protective shields, life recovery etc. which makes them almost invincible. Moreover when regrouped, if you have more than one (Geary, Vantage, Coop, Ava, Eona, Sable etc.) then they will capture nodes almost instantly compared to other troops and are efficient against heavy equipped nodes. Their only weakness would be a very large number of enemies so keep an eye on their health and fall back to recover it if needed.
- There are plenty of other efficient troops for a given role. Grunts soldiers (Enforcers/Rangers), while being the most basic unit, reveal to be really strong in number and they can wipe out most of the ground units without taking too much damage. They also are perfect to harass the enemy, spawning them continuously on their camp while the bigger guns make their way toward them as they cost so few.
Infiltrators are good too, they have a huge reach and can take down units before they even have the infiltrators within range. They make good backup for your defenses. Stalkers and Matriarchs, while being painfully slow, have awesome firepower and a group of three can take down almost anything in seconds and as such they are precious allies to capture heavily guarded nodes.
Hunters are my favourites because they are powerful, fast, can fly straight to the goal, have a decent reach, a killer ability (missiles) and most troops have a hard time defeating a squadron of 3 hunter units before dying. They are both excellent for attack and defence, therefore I advise you to get as much as you can in your army, when you are able to. In the Sai faction their counterpart would be Rift worms or Locusts but they can't compete. The Rift Worms are very slow and more expensive and the Locusts are more fragile but still have a good firepower, though both still make good substitutes to be fair.
As the description says, complete all missions on either Easy or Normal. I suggest playing the game first on Easy, then moving on the Hard, skipping Normal. Refer to Epic Saga for more details. The difficulty achievements DO NOT STACK.
