The earliest you could obtain this is by repairing the Coop in Area 1 (Farmhouse) and then befriending the Chicken that should also be in the same area. By having the Coop repaired, you can move the chicken in and start collecting Eggs by the next day. Other livestock can include but aren't limited to: Selkie Chicken, Cow, Sheep, et cetera. You can find additional livestock as a starting animal in Areas 2 and 3 once you unlock access to them, but they may require the dilapidated barn to be repaired first.
