Just curious, does anyone know the significance of 501? Am I missing a pop culture reference?

If you are playing solo, this can pop as early as the second mission.

Kill 501 enemies to unlock this trophy. This will come naturally by the time you finish the main story but will definitely pop once you have all of the Horde Mode trophies. If you want to check how far you’ve come, go: Main Menu => Extras => Career Stats

This is cumulative over all game modes and will come naturally over the course of playing through the campaign, Horde and Score Attack.

To see how many enemies you've killed, select 'Extras' > 'Career Stats' from the main menu.
