How to unlock the Challenger of the Rift achievement in STRANGER OF PARADISE FINAL FANTASY ORIGIN PS4 & PS5 - Definitive Guide
You must complete a large part the first DLC for this one to start. The first mission like the first DLC will not let you die. The griffin is very annoying and can take some time if you forgot how to play the game. Just keep hitting it until you get to the end of the mission and the game will put you into the Hall of the Dark Crystal where you will find the rift labyrinth.
When selecting portals for the first 22 floors, you can enter in extra mode. Equip the skill runic protection like you did in the last DLC and as long as that skill is up, you will not die.
The first 10 or so floors will be super easy with the setup from the previous DLC, but you will need to rank up after that.
Finish the first floor for this achievement.

How the heck do you turn on 'extra mode' for the rift missions? Unlike the other missions in the game, the option to turn on extra mode by pressing Y when starting a mission is not there for Rift Labyrinth. Did they remove extra mode from this dlc in a recent patch or something?

It's an option when you click on the portals. It will not be there after floor 21. I don't think they removed the option. Extra mode is single player only, so you won't find it if in a group.

General tips for completing rift labyrinth.
1) Summon monsters from Astos as soon as you receive enough summoning stones, and also interact with monsters (the readiness to interact is displayed as an exclamation mark). If monsters are in reserve, readiness for interaction is displayed in Astos’s monster change menu. Also feed the monsters, sometimes after this they may become ready to interact. After the call, when you fulfill certain conditions (kill n enemies, open n chests, etc.), your characteristics will increase.
2) Maintain a high amount of potion, hi-potion (they restore the health limit) and phoenix down (they resurrect in case of death). You can buy them from Astos.
3) Choose a safe route. I recommend the mission to find a way out and kill the chaos monsters. In these missions you can get a large amount of resources, and also exit when you find a rift. The larger the diameter of the fault, the greater the coefficient. But I recommend completing these missions to the maximum. I also consider survival missions quite safe, since killing monsters reduces the remaining time.
4) Don't die and don't restart rift labyrinth. It sounds stupid, but if your level points drop to zero you will lose all items: arcanium stones, first aid kits, food, money and blue unidentified items. All monsters will also disappear, and their stat increases will be reset, leaving only the interaction level. At the same time, you can die once, but after that you need to be more careful. In Null Void you can die (at least up to level 21 inclusive).
5) Put together a good set. As for recommendations, I can advise, regardless of your classes, to assemble a set with job affinity 400% with Dark Knight and 250% Berserker. This set will give you permanent Protect and Shell buffs at the expense of the Near Death condition. Also, after this, you can attach any abilities with Near Death, since they give much greater values. I personally play for
Liberator, its 400% job affinity extends the effect of first aid kits to all characters, and also resurrects dead allies.
