Advanced jobs are unlocked by purchasing the node for the Advanced Job at the bottom of one or more of the Basic Job trees. The Advanced Job nodes do not cost Job points. You only have to buy a he connecting node to buy the Advanced Job.
Swordsman is the first Job that you start with. At the bottom of it's Job Tree are the nodes for the Advanced Jobs of: Berserker, Warrior and Knight.
To unlock Warrior you have to also buy the Warrior node at the bottom of the Ronin Job Tree.
Samurai, Black Mage and White Mage all only have one node that you have to buy in order to unlock the Advanced Job. The rest require 2 nodes.
Samurai is at the bottom of the Ronin tree. Black Mage and White Mage are found at the bottom of the Mage tree.
