How to unlock the Rapid Fighter achievement in STREET FIGHTER IV - Definitive Guide
Oddly, despite being time-based this is also a survival mode. If you lose a round, that's it - game over. Even if you've got loads of time left.
Also, SFIV is cheap as chips - so yes, you're best off playing as Zangief and spamming left-bumper. That alone won't be enough though, so remember to fire off your ultra and supers whenever possible.
A good way to activate Zangief's ultra/super is to jump at your opponent and do two spins (or more) of your left stick as you are in mid-air. Land and hit LB. This will activate your ultra (if you've got enough guage) or super (if you haven't). A couple of those and those AI pricks are toast.
Look out for a couple of nasty rounds though. Level 14 disables your special moves (no lariat spins for you) but increases your attack. Zangief's heavy punch is enough here and you can still do ultra/super combos.
Level 17 is really hateful. Your opponents have infinite ultras and increased attack and defense. You have to face ten of them. Zangief is 8th, Gouken is 9th (and is the worst kind of bastard) and Sagat is 10th. More lariat nastiness for the win.
Level 20 is the last one and faces you off against 25 enemies. That's the whole roster, ending with Seth. You have increased attack/defense and you start each round with a full super and ultra gauge. If you lose, it's back to the beginning.
Advice for that is be cheap (just like they are), use your ultra midway through the round and then get your super in. Inbetween just lariat for all you are worth.
I noticed there was no really good guide for level 14 so I'm here to fix that. I've zangief spammed my way through this entire game and actually gotten good at doing his Ultras but he's useless here.
On my 1st try with Sagat, since his kick range is vicious I chose him, I won this challenge using only jump kicks and sweeps. Start each match with a jump kicks followed by a sweep and try to get a 2-hit combo with that. Then focus mostly on sweeps with the occasional jump kicks if they throw a fireball or something. Remember to be blocking when your not doing either of the above. Feilong almost destroyed me, I had no problem with anyone else. Got it first try, I hope this helps y'all. Also I wasn't familiar with Sagat's Ultra or Super combo so I didn't use a single one. This cut it close on time since you only are awarded 5 seconds per win if you do nothing else but I ended up with 30 seconds to spare.
However, level 14 is straight up impossible, even with the Giefer. I personally recommend whomever you are best with. This is gonna be all about comfort and timing. It's best to know your character's move set and animations and how long each move will take as to your opponents. You know, real skill... not spamming one move with the Gief.
I do however stand by the Zangief method for all other challenges.
No gold medals required.
Time Attacks will take between 6-30 minutes depending on skill and if you're trying to achieve a gold medal.
All Normal Challenges are very easy if you apply the Zangief technique.
Level 14 will not allow Special Moves so:

Choose Dhalsim. Use down heavy kick and heavy punch all the time until you have a super or ultra wait for a chance and unleash it. I beat it in less than 2 minutes this way. This first opponent should be Honda (it was always for me). Keep you distance, guard a lot. The difficult part will be Akuma. When he unleashes his Ultra jump, if you can't avoid that then Pause, Retry. If he hits you your done for. If you get past Akuma you'll get it done. Watch the timer because you'll only get 5 seconds/match. Use Ultra if you have an opening. Just like Super, it will give you bonus seconds.
