How to unlock the Mixology 101 achievement in Sunset Overdrive - Definitive Guide
You earn amps by
- Making them at the station next to Floyd. Each one will require 10-60 of a collectible item.
or
- From completing certain story missions.
As I watch a replay of the game, these are the story missions I believe give amps
- 2 Amps from the early tutorial mission on amps.
- 3 Amps for each story mission that involves defending the vats
---- You defend the first vat twice so I think there are 5 of these missions
This should give you 17 amps. Then you just have to use collectibles (sneakers, fizzie, etc.) to buy amps from Floyd. There are plenty of amps that cost 10 so you should easily be able to get enough just by doing the story. If not, Two-Hat sells maps of collectibles. The maps for the first area cost 2500 sodas each, except for the Fizzie Balloon one, which costs only 25 sodas.
Obviously it's completely possible to get the achievement before you're that far in the game. These are just the ones that are straight up given to you.

Little tip for those curious, buying the amps doesn't make you do the night defense to actually get them, you get them right away after trading the collectibles for them. Wish i knew this earlier because while i love the night defense in chaos squad, i don't care for it at all solo so put getting amps to the side thinking i would have to run it whenever i wanted more amps, so glad you don't have to.

I know this guide is a few years old but I figured I’d add this in just in case: I believe the amps included in the Deluxe Edition of the game count towards this total.
The last time I played, I didn’t have this achievement. Then I bought the deluxe edition of the game (which apparently comes with 2 amps). The next time I logged in I unlocked this achievement with no action taken… so I think I stopped playing after getting 18-19 amps, and the 2 from the DE put me over the threshold to pop the achievement.

You get Amps from Floyd either as mission rewards or by purchasing them using the collectibles that you have found as currency. You can find Floyd at any of your bases and you can either let this happen through receiving them as mission rewards, or else you can spend your collected collectibles and purchase them from him.
Once you have your twentieth one, the achievement will unlock.
