How to unlock the Go Platinum achievement in Super Comboman: Smash Edition - Definitive Guide
I found the achievement description to be a bit confusing. There are only bronze, silver and gold ratings on any given level. I am sure the description is implying that by getting all gold, you are going platinum, but I honestly had to experiment around with the game to make sure there wasn't actually awardable platinum ratings for levels.
Anyways, at the end of each level you are given a score that is based on a number of factors including combo, coins, lives, time, objects destroyed and enemies defeated. There is no clear breakdown on how this score is calculated, nor is there any indication of what is required for each ranking.
This makes getting gold ranks a bit confusing.
Also, the ranking system is very inconsistent. For example, I was able to get gold on the final 5 or 6 stages on my first play through. This includes spending extra time figuring out the levels for the first time and exploring for all the stickers while only getting a max combo of about 150. I honestly wasn't even trying for gold and ended up with it.
On the other hand, there are two levels in particular in which you must seemingly get an insane combo (near 500) don't die, and pick up nearly 3,000 coins in order to get gold.
So have fun with that.
My tips for gold is first play through each level and collect all the stickers.
Once you are familiar with the levels and all the enemies, you will be better suited.
Buy and equip the perk that gives x2 hits and put it in the 30 combo slot. This will make increasing combos easier. Use whatever other perk you like in the 2nd slot, but I used the one to regenerate my smash faster.
Between enemies you will want to extend your combo (extends time, not count) by hitting light fixtures, crates, buttons or other interactive objects to keep your combo alive. Some objects must be hit with a smash attack () to count.
Once your x2 attack perk is active, you can defeat many enemies and increase your combo simply by spamming . When you are surrounded, I liked to use the spin attack upgrade (back, forth,) to increase my combo and knock back enemies.
Otherwise, just practice. If you are finding a certain enemy is giving you trouble, you can purchase that enemy at the training center so you can practice techniques to fight them.
