How to unlock the The Real End achievement in Super Meat Boy - Definitive Guide

To get this, you must beat the dark world version of the world 6 boss. There are two requirements to be able to do this:

-You must have defeated the light world version of the world 6 boss.
-You must have completed at least 85 dark world stages.

Dark world stages are unlocked by clearing the light world version of that stage within par time (A+ rank). You can do any 85 stages from worlds 1-7, as order doesn't matter, but I'd recommend starting with every dark stage in worlds 1-4, which will give you 80/85. From there, do any stages you can from the last three worlds. If you're having trouble in world 5, 6-1X and 7-12X are relatively painless. The dark world boss marker in world 6 tells you how many you have done.

The boss fight in world 6 is mostly the same as it is in the light world. The first part has more saws and a slightly stricter path, but is otherwise identical, and if you've made it this far you shouldn't have too many problems. In the last room, you have to hit the button on the ceiling, then the button on the right to drop Dr. Fetus in the pit.

The second part is much tougher than the light world version, but again, you just need to make it back to the left end of the stage. There's a LOT more saws and a MUCH stricter path than the light world, but again if you've made it this far, it's doable. The achievement pops as soon as the cutscene after this area starts.

Good luck!

Edit: Added video walkthroughs of the last stage, thanks DarkxMaterials!

You forgot to mention that it's necessary to get Grade A + in the Light World to release phases of Dark World.

Another good tip: If you have trouble beating some of the latest Dark levels, beating Dark levels on the Cotton Alley counts toward the 85 levels counter. So if you are near 85 levels and got frustrated, you can try too some of those levels. Personally some of them are easier than many of the 5th chapter ones.

The chapter 6 levels count too. 6-1X is quite short and easy for where in the game it is. I found 7-12X to be really easy, too (plus there's a bandage there for some reason!)

Heading left on that boss was absolutely infuriating.... Good luck to all who try to tackle this!

If you're fast enough, you can actually get past the wall of saws on the first half of the stage. Yu have to be fast though. Once you do this the rest of the stage is much easier and when you get to the last button nothing will kill you. The wall of saws even goes through, but it doesn't kill you.

To any still going for this: you're definitely going to want to go for the entirety of 1-3. However if, like me, you're finding world 4 too tough to complete, go for 6X-1, a few world 5 and give all of Cotton alley a go. This might sound stupid, but at least half of the dark world cotton alley was easier to beat than world 4 for me.

The below videos have shown me how to do many levels I was stuck on in the process of attempting this achievement, as well as a few tricks that made some hard levels a joke. It's worth noting that he uses The Kid (unlocked by beating the Warp Zone in 5-7) in many levels, particularly in World 5. While unlocking The Kid is no joke, it makes beating the 85 levels you need to a much easier task. And while the other solution says to try and stick to worlds 1-4, I have found some levels in the later worlds that aren't too bad. ALL credit goes to DurrpyProductions on Youtube:

The Kid Warp Zone:
Level 1: There's really not too much advice I can give other than don't run up until the very last jump.
Level 2: For the set of spikes that are closer together, I found it a bit more efficient to run, but not weave completely to the left or right, just enough to avoid the spike.

World 1:
These levels are pretty straightforward. If you're having trouble on any of these, you should probably get a little better at the game in general before attempting Dark World levels....

World 2:
Once again, these are mostly pretty easy. The only levels I see as bothersome are 2-4X and 2-8X.

World 3:
Pay attention to his run of 3-11X at 3:23.

World 4:
These levels are a lot more difficult than Worlds 1-3.

World 5:

World 6:
6-1X isn't that bad; it's easier than everything in Worlds 4 and 5.

World 7:
I find 7-3X, 7-5X, and 7-15X to be not so bad.

To get this trophy, you first need to complete Chapter 6: "The End" in the light world, and complete 85 dark world levels (this means you need to A+ at least 85 light world levels as well).

It doesn't matter which dark world levels you complete, as long as you've completed at least 85. You have a total of 105 to choose from in the first 6 worlds, so if you're stuck on one particular level, you can skip it until going for the 100% later on.

Once you've completed 85 dark world levels, you'll unlock a new boss level in "The End" dark world. Completing this level will award the trophy and the true ending of the game.

Good luck!

Each Level has an "expert mode" which is unlocked by beating the par time for that level. If you beat the par time you can select the level from the menu screen and press  to go to the Dark World. This is where you can select the dark version of that level. However, don't expect it to be easy. Super Meat Boy is happy to be hard.

Once you get to the 6th Chapter (The End) and beat one of the levels' par time you can then go to the dark world for that chapter. Here are five more dark levels and a Dark boss fight.

To unlock this fight, you need to beat 85 dark levels, Not beat the par time, just beat them. As there is about 100 levels in the first five chapters, you don't need to do every dark level to get this achievement.

Here is a video showing the Dark World variant of The End that you'll need to beat:

In order to get this trophy, you need to defeat the boss at the end of Chapter 6 Dark world. The boss will be available after you clear 85 Dark levels. This boss plays the same as its Light counterpart (described under The End ), however there will be even more hazards and some jumps will get much harder. All it takes is a lot of perseverance and practice to master both parts until you finally clear them. The trophy will pop as soon as the ending cutscenes start.

This hint is a hint for both the dark world and the light one. If you jump as shown in the diagram, the level will be completed, i.e. this is a game bug that makes it easier to complete the last boss

Tested on PC and Ps Vita

PS the trophy is given after saving the bandage in the dark world (as well as in the light world), to open this lvl, you just need to go through 85 lvls in the dark world
