How to unlock the SMB4 Master achievement in Super Mega Baseball 4 - Definitive Guide
While this may seem like a daunting achievement at first glance, there are some tricks you can implement that will make getting this a lot easier. I did this in a standard short season which consists of sixteen regular season games, two best of three playoff series, eight teams, and two teams making the playoffs from each division. I used the Thrillers team from the league legends league, since they have high rotation and speed stats which will come in handy.
The best part of this strategy is not needing to play every game at 80 ego, instead we will be raising the ego to 99 in games we plan on losing and lowering the ego to 65 in games we plan on winning. In my season I made the playoffs going 8-8 which should be enough to get you the second playoff spot in your division if you’re beating and losing to the correct teams. The way the schedule works is you’ll play 4 games against each of your three divisional opponents and 1 game against each team in the opposite division. Our goal is going to be to win our 8 games against the same two teams in our division, beating both 4 times each, while losing 4 games against the other team and all 4 games against the teams in the other division. This will guarantee the two teams you beat will have at least 4 losses thus they will only need 4 more losses in their remaining 12 games to finish below you in the standings since you’ll have the head to head tie break. I would start the season by simulating the first few games until at least one of the teams in your division starts 0-1, this way we can target that team as one the two teams we will win 4 of our games against, and if you get a scenario with two divisional teams starting 0-1 then all the better. Sometimes your divisional opponents won’t have a game before you do so if this happens just delete the season and start over until you get a more favorable situation before you start playing games.
Now that we know the two teams we will be winning our 8 games against let’s move on to what ego we need to be playing at in the games we are going to win. We can use some simple math to figure this out, since we’re going to go 8-8 in the regular season and the playoffs will consist of two best of three series where we will go 2-1 to win each, at the end of the season we will have a record of 12 wins and 10 losses. To average an 80 ego we can multiply 80 times the 22 games we will be playing to give us 1760, in other words if we take the ego from every game we play and add them together the total needs to be at least 1760 or higher for the average ego to be at or above 80. Now to minimize the ego needed in games we plan on winning we are going to set our ego to 99 for each of our 10 losses. If we multiply 99 by 10 we get 990, and then we subtract that from the 1760 total needed which gives us 770. We need to win 12 games so if we divide 770 by 12 we get 64.17, this is the average ego we need to use in our 12 wins. I rounded up and played at 65 ego for my 12 wins. TL don’t care about the math we will play our 12 wins at 65 ego and our 10 losses at 99 ego to get a season average of 80 ego.
Now that we know which games we plan on winning and losing and what ego we need to play each game at, let’s move on to the strategy of how to guarantee we actually win the games we plan to, since losing even one of these games will drastically lower our odds of making the playoffs. The most important trick to know while playing the games is that while the game saves after each at bat if you pause and close the game before the next batter comes up the game will revert to before the last pitch you threw when you load it back up. So for example say you give up a homerun or a hit that scores a runner already on base, simply pause and close the game before the at bat officially completes and the cutscene for the next batter comes up and you’ll be able to redo the pitch until you get an out. This will be tedious and there will be games or at bats even where you’ll have to close and reopen the game many times before you’re able to record an out, but with this method we can guarantee that we will never give up a single run. I used this method anytime a batter got past first base with 0 outs to give myself more leeway to give up a single later in the inning without it scoring a run. With this out of the way all we have to do is score a single run on offense in order to win. Now while 65 ego is still pretty tough if you simply stick to contact swings you’re bound to get at least a few hits every game. The best method I found to guarantee runs is by getting the lead off batter on base and then stealing second and bunting him over to third and then home with your first two outs. This is why I picked the Thrillers since they have a lot of players with high speed making stealing second and bunting them over much easier. You can use the same pause, exit, and reload trick we used while pitching if you happen to get thrown out attempting to steal or bunt the runner over. This definitely isn’t necessary and once you get the hang of the speed of pitches at 65 ego you should be able to string multiple hits together and score runs naturally, a bonus being that every extra run you score on offense means you can give up one while pitching without having to quit and reload the game as often. Even if you’re not able to score any runs in the first nine innings once you get to extra innings you’ll have a runner start on second so just bunt them over twice to score the run.
One last note is in the games you'll be losing at 99 ego all you need to do is start the game and immediately forfeit, no need to actually play through the entire game. Apologies if I ended up rambling a bit with this solution, but if you follow the steps above getting this achievement while still not easy will take out a lot of the headache, and doesn’t require you to play the entire season at 80 ego.

Great guide :-) now if you could make one for the SMB4 Champ that would be great :-) that is tough playing with an average of 90 - I've been playing 2 games at 86 and loosing 1 at 99 and I've only won 4 games man playing at 86 is tough and 99 is insane :-) Good luck to all
ALSO great on the math as the other games you were able to lower your ego to 79.51 and it would count as 80 and round up -- SMB4 DOES NOT ROUND UP -- so if you are unsure use an average calculator OR just follow the amazing guide above :-)

Best stragety to approach it is this: You do not need to play every game at 80 ego, insted we will be raising the ego to 99 in games we plan on losing and lowering the ego to 65 in games we plan on winning.
You will make playoffs by going 8-8 which should be enough to get you the second playoff spot in your division. If you are beating and losing to the correct teams. Your goal is to win your 8 games agaisnt the same two teams in your division, beating both 4 times each while losing 4 games against the other team and all 4 games against the teams in the other division.
