How to unlock the Master Speedrunner achievement in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD - Definitive Guide

In order to even unlock this mode, you must have completed the game. I would not attempt the Expert Course until you have obtained all 10 Champion Medals and are pretty confident in your abilities to run through world's 8, 9, and 10 without using a continue.

The Expert Time Attack Course requires that you play through all 10 worlds without using a continue, meaning a complete attempt is going to take you anywhere from 90 to 120 minutes. This is tricky, because you won't even get to the difficult levels for at least an hour, meaning that you're investing all that time just to have an attempt at the achievement.

During my Champion Medal run throughs, I had the most trouble with World 10 Stage 5, but was able to build a solid strategy with YanYan until I was having more regular success. Here is the clip during my attempt where I got past this level.

I was extremely lucky and got through the entire Expert Course on my first attempt. I had built up 45-50 lives through the first six worlds, and then proceeded to lose half of them with some crazy complications on World 7. By the time I got to World 10, I only had 10 lives and thought I was toast. Luckily, I made it to Stage 5 without much fuss, and got through it on the first try (video above), and the following stages weren't too bad.

I'll echo that you should practice this stage until you can complete it like this video, before trying to do the achievement. I'd also practice 10-3 and 10-7 until you're consistent on those. I found the whole game easy on the second run for this achievement, with the exception of 10-3, 10-5, and 10-7. I took my time getting every banana I could, and entered 10-1 with 65 lives. Completed it losing about 20 in 1:19:xx(ish).

The large amount of lives helped. I had 16 lives when I finished and got through 10-5 in 5 tries.

Got it first try. I went into world 10 with 50 lives and finished the game with 50 lives lol. Seriously... practice practice practice. That 10-5 took me 200+ lives to beat first time. I kept playing that same level over and over until I beat it 3 times within 10 lives. When I beat it twice in a row, I knew I was ready for the champion medal and expert run. I lost 8 lives on it when I did my run. I lost more lives in world 9 than 10. I was shocked I beat it so easily too.

Here’s a video of me doing it on my first ever attempt. Nothing really interesting really happens until about world 7 since every world before that is just slowly stockpiling lives. From there I have some techniques I’ve worked out with baby while doing the champion medals that worked well for me. Everything was pretty straightforward except for 10-5 so with some luck it should be easy enough.

Wow that was brutal, but more from the amount of training on each level than the actual run through. Here are some overall tips:

- I used MeeMee as she was more stable. I personally found Baby and YanYan too bouncy, even though they have the higher jump.
- I died about 11 times total, 4 times on 10-5 (I got lucky).
- I took my time in every world as there is no time limit in Time Attack (ironically).
- I had 80 lives going into World 10. I grabbed as many easy to medium reaching bananas as I could in earlier worlds, to include the hidden bananas. Recommend searching around for hidden bananas (i.e. on top of bones, rocks, barrels) in practice mode first.
- Starting in World 6, I practiced every level until I could consistently beat it 4 out of 5 times in a row. The exceptions to this were 10-3 and 10-5. Do not underestimate World 7, that can mess you up more than Worlds 8 or 9 if you're not careful. Really practice on the bosses too. I used this guy's video, although I had to amend it slightly since his is a speed runner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4za4t-ag5Ng
- For 10-3 at the end, right as you are landing on the blocks, try to land flat and then immediately jump forward. Way higher chance of a more controlled jump as opposed to bouncing off at an angle.
- For 10-5, uggg, practice, practice and you need some luck for sure. Getting here with enough lives should ensure your success. At the part where there are 4 yellow squares with the 1 red in the middle, what helped a little was trying to land in the middle of an individual yellow block and landing flat as in 10-3, followed by immediate jump forward. This decreased the chance of an angled bounce. Even still it is very hard with the collision detection issues on those blocks. And TAKE YOUR TIME if you do stick the landing on the red side. That BS collision detection can throw you out even when you're just rolling in between the red blocks. Then I personally made sure I was 100% straight before hitting the final string of boosts to the goal. In training, I beat the level 3 out of 5 times at one point. Then I died 35 times in a row before beating it again. Just inconsistent. I used this guy's video too. While you can't be Sonic in Time Attack his overall strategy still applied, even with MeeMee.

- Not applicable to everyone, but I have both a Xbox One Series X and an older Xbox One S. If I died more than 5 times on a level, I was going to practice the level I was stuck on using another profile to not count against lives. In the end, I did not need to use it, although I certainly planned to on 10-5.
- After World 6, I paused and took a 5 to 10 min break between each world.
- With enough practice, you will get the achievement too. Hope this helped.
