This achievement will unlock by simply playing the first chapter of the campaign and cannot be missed.
The chapter consists of 3 mission, one of which is a boss fight stage.
Since this is the first chapter of the game there aren't parts that are too hard IMO.

Anyone else having problems with that achievement not popping

Give it some time, achievements often take a while to unlock on the x1. Personally I had no problems with this game but there were others that took more than a week to unlock.
