How to unlock the They Are Looking achievement in Super Time Force - Definitive Guide

This'll be somewhat tough to explain, but alas I'll try.

I'm going to use the first level of 198X for reference, being the first level you'll play I imagine it's the easiest way to achieve this. That being said, this can be achieved on any of the levels where shards can be collected.

So, to unlock this you need to first identify the Looker, which is the floating collection of squares that appears by the exit of every level. Once you collect it, a small timer appears in the upper right corner of the screen. After grabbing it, you'll need to rewind all the way back to the beginning of the level.

This timer will now read 20.00 seconds.

You now have just 20 seconds to get from start to finish. The catch is that you must collect the level's three collectible shards along the way.

If you reach the Looker again—who, upon second visit, takes another form—before the timer expires, you'll be treated to a cutscene and an achievement.

It's as simple as that.

As far as tips go for the level itself—again, I'm using the first level in 198X as my personal example—I'd recommend beginning with Zackasaurus, as this'll allow you to jump from the tank's main gun and execute a chain of head bounces. This gets you off to an ideal start, leading to the first shard.

As far as timing goes, I had about 9.5 seconds left when I hit the door where you meet Jef Leppard.

I then had just 4.5 seconds left when I hit the second shard, which mightn't seem like a lot—and it isn't—but if you think you're cutting it fine, don't give up. The second and third shards slow time down just enough to make this doable. I reached the Looker when I had literally 0.00 left on my timer.

So, good luck. It's a bit tricky, but this'll also unlock a badge to contribute to the Something Smells Rank achievement.

Update: I've now added a video guide of the achievement, courtesy of the great BOB101910 RFP.

So thanks to him.

Got it! :) I found level 3 of 1,000,000 BC to be the easiest, though I haven't played all the way through yet.

Can I just point out that you don't need to do all this in one life, you go as fast you can and if you reach a bit that is particularly slow like beating down a wall then feel free to roll back time a few times to speed that bit up. On the level I did I had 3 seconds left on my clock to kill an annoying guy that blocks the way, it was only possible to do because I had about 20 Jean Rambois's shooting him.

To everyone really struggling, I tried both method with no result and I found that the EASIEST is level ''673 #3'' you only have to time-stop to pick and it's very easy I did it with a second over. Good luck dance

Thanks for this guide. I was able to finish the first level with 1:60 remaining. Knowing what time you got to the door helped me out a ton. I was getting there with about 10 seconds left thinking I was going way too slow before I read the guide.

I'll leave a video of my run here if you want to use it for your guide.

Thanks mate, I'll add it in.

Glad to know my going into detail helped you out, I thought I was rambling.

When doing this for the first level, I found it helpful to plow through using Re-Bot blasting his homing missles ahead to kill bad guys just as they enter the screen. Then when I was doing my final runs I would hold off on shooting (since it has some recoil and slows you down). I was able to get the achievement with about 2 seconds left.

JACK LAYT0N has it right, the third stage of 673 got me this immediately. I ended up with 2.6 seconds left on the clock and completed it with just Jean Rambois.

Wish I had thought of 673 stage 3. Another option is 3072 stage 1; if you can string together the first two shards and get to the fan, you've got the hard part down. Aimy McKillin for the flamethrowers and opening the final few gates, then Zackasaurus to string it all together.

To anybody struggling to get this on the 1,000,000 BC flying level because they read that it was the easiest: Stop and follow the solution/video above. I got nowhere near on 1,000,000 BC, but I did it first time on this level with 2.91 seconds to spare (and even that was after missing the final jump up to the looker, killing the enemy from behind, jumping back up on the platform and then jumping to the looker). Thanks to both The Dear Hunter and BOB101910 RFP.

i don't understand this. No matter how well i do through the level clearing it out i always end up in the negative. by like five. Is my controller broken? It my left stick not allowing me to run at full speed? I literally have no obstacles in my way, rewind to the beginning, and with no hang ups at all i make it to the end with negative five seconds? Clarity anyone?

Just got this last night. Video helped me a ton. Thanks!

@Fiction0713 - You have to use the Shards to get anywhere close. Them slowing down time helps a ton. The first shard is right in the beginning and I use it to pass almost everyone up to the door where you need to save Jef Leppard. Got there with 10 seconds left on the clock. From there, it's using A LOT of people to blow open the door and shoot the robot so that it takes a split second. Also, I took a life and ran passed Jef BEFORE the robot drops, so that it gets destroyed and I can move forward right away without wasting time running passed that area. From there just time your shots to hit the shards so you slow time down and can run passed everyone. I ended with 0.40 seconds left so it is tight...very tight. Hope it helps!

I did this on 673 stage 3. I didn't even get all three shards because I couldn't remember where one was and still got the achievement to pop. :)

This achievement is currently really easy. I guess they patched it to make it easier? In stage 1 you now have 35! seconds instead of 20... which means you no longer need perfect runs.

My personal recommendation is to try this achievement on 1,000,000 BC - Level 3, but it is possible on ANY non-boss level including the first level of the game.

To get this achievement, you'll need to touch the "Looker" which looks similar to a shard that is somewhere near the end of every level. This will trigger a small timer that will show up in the top right of the screen near the glorbs/shards counter.

Once you touch it, you'll now have to rewind all the way back to the beginning of the level, and you'll have to get back to that location and touch it again while the time is in the positive. Easier said than done. On this level, you have 40.000 seconds to complete the entire level and get to the Looker again which will look like a Hero until it expires.

As for tips... first is practice and comprehension of the game. After that, get through the level as fast as possible, then rewind and respawn another guy to get through it faster and faster and faster every time. Eventually you'll have a collection of guys flying through the level like a huge wall of bullets. I ONLY used Jean Rambois' charged attack for the entire level, and that'll work for this level as well.

Chokepoints are the places that you need to take care of the fastest, as these slow you down the most. These includes doors, cliffs or mini-bosses that need to be destroyed before you are allowed to continue. It is important to have MAXIMUM firepower at these points in order to minimize lost time.

Also, Shards are VERY IMPORTANT. You'll want to "save" them whenever possible, and only start using them as your approaching final few runs. Also, in order to have as many versions of your character using shards at the same time, you'll want to give youself a small delay before shooting a shard, and then after rewinding, you can shoot it a little bit faster. This will let you have the slo-mo, but also have other characters in slo-mo with you. Ideally you want as many different versions of yourself in slo-mo as possible as this will give you the best chance.

The video will help explain these things even further:

I already had the achievement but you describe exactly what I did to get it so up-voted.

Also just to correct you.. The level is in 1,000,000 BC

Something that really helped my times was running into the shards instead of shooting them. If you are moving at full pace, you will always get the shard, even if your other versions get it at the same time. This really brought my time down and made this level very quick and easy to get this achievement.

While the two previous solutions have great info and good videos I found those strategies somewhat difficult for me. So I did some searchng on YouTube and stumbled across this beauty. This is done on the first level of the game and the gamer takes a simpler approach to it as oppose to the more chaotic walk troughs out there. It's really all about hitting the last two shards at the right moment and having just a few clones of yourself helping you clear the path. Perfectly timed jumps are also required. Got it on my first attempt after watching the video.

This video was made by ID@Upload and all credit goes to him/her

Hope this proves useful and good luck.

Wow this level is actually quite easy for it. For some reason I was given 35 seconds to get their rather than 20, which is really easy.

Plus with the Ultra update, you get access to ultra chars after the story which help bring the door and any big enemies down quick.

This achievement requires you to complete a Looker challenge. You may notice a hovering collection of squares near the end of each level. Once you get it, you will notice another timer appear under you glorb/shard counters. Now you will have to rewind to the very start of the mission and get back to the spot where you collected the Looker shard before the new timer gets to zero. You can use as many Time Outs as you want, and try to take full advantage of the shards for their time-slow effect. Once you reach your destination you will see a Looker. Just jump onto him and a small cutscene will occur and the achievement is yours.

Here are a couple of useful video guides that helped me out nicely.
