How to unlock the Speed Runner achievement in Superliminal - Definitive Guide

I would not recommend trying to do this on your first playthrough. Understanding the mechanics and quirks of each chapter/section will easily put you over an hour of play time. You can use that first play through to pick up all the collectibles using the other guides though.

As for this specific achievement you only need to complete chapters 1-8 in under an hour. Once chapter 9 starts, hit the alarm clock and your achievement will pop.

This means that you have roughly 7-8 minutes on average to complete each chapter but some take 3-4 minutes and others 5+ where you have to wait for the game to progress itself (Chapters 7 & 8).

I found it best to do this immediately after completing my first run as the game was still fresh in my head. Some puzzles are finicky like dropping the exit sign on both buttons in chapter 1 but even taking extra time with that you should still come in under an hour easily.

Timing myself I finished just under 40 minutes.

Overall there aren't really any strats other than memorizing the pathes you take and solving each area as fast as you can.

Loading time do NOT count for beating the game under 1 hour/under 30 minutes if someone was wondering

@sMIKE2k5 any tips? I think my best run was around 36 minutes including loading screens (no achievement so clearly not sub 30). Finding it hard to cut my run down

@Funky Monkee Not Really. I watched speedrun videos on youtube and tried to replicate as much as possible. Using keyboard and mouse seems easier than using controller so you are going to use some more time. But you have some time to spare anyway. The one thing i didn't do was the jumping technique you see in the video (3:12). In my last run i got the time 29:18 and i made some mistakes here and there. I choked a bit in the last chapter and wasted like 45 seconds on the last cheese object.

Here are my timestamps after each chapter, if you want to use that as a referance:
Also I used livesplit and pause the time when the loading screen comes up.

Chapter 1 - 2:34
Chapter 2 - 5:49
Chapter 3 - 8:19
Chapter 4 - 11:29
Chapter 5 - 14:09
Chapter 6 - 17:49
Chapter 7 - 23:21
Chapter 8 - 29:18

I'm getting very close, just need to shave off 10-15 more seconds. Biggest tip I can share: use Right Trigger to pick up stuff rather than B button! When I discovered this my runs drastically got faster, because using the triggers you can aim and activate stuff at the same time. Makes things like hitting the alarms much quicker because you can trigger-mash while aiming.

EDIT: Got it. Final time was 32:20 including loading screens, for reference

Ive done this twice now and it still will not unlock, both times selecting new game (seeing the start video) and getting through to "wake up". Both times way under an hour (~40min).Wont even show me the timer even though thats on too, both Xbox and PC!

I too have beaten the game in under a hour multiple times and nothing has popped. Also like Wabbit said my timer is nowhere to be seen after turning it on in the menu.

I have the timer showing but just did it in 39 min and it didn't pop. It was actually attempt 1 at the 35 achievement hopefully they'll pop together when I manage that?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twxnFwq_KX8 This is a good video of a glitchless speedrun. It's on PC, and beating the game under 30 mins on console is very tight. I haven't managed it yet. This run also contains a super quick strategy for that exit sign puzzle you mentioned, and every second counts.

There are many out of bounds glitches that appear in Any% speedruns that allow the skipping of entire chapters. I haven't tried to replicate them yet but would make the 30 minute run easier if possible. The only tip I can think of is when you need to make a giant object, hold it above your head and drop it, and pick it up very close to your head to make it big as quickly as possible.

I've composed a visual guide to the superliminal achievement which I believe is a good basis on completing the speed runner achievement as well, I know there are a few others out there I just figured I'd share my take on it 🙂
