You will get this in campaign, don't go out of your way to unlock it. If you play as the UEF you will be on alot of ground maps, thus building plenty of ground units to make army's.

Play the campaign and you will get this very quickly. By the time I was done with the second campaign I had over 10,000 ground unit kills.
