How to unlock the Immortality of a Kind achievement in Surviving Mars - Definitive Guide

Project Phoenix is a Breakthrough technology you can receive randomly from scanning anomalies with your RC Explorer. When researched, colonists will have a 50% chance upon death to be reborn as a child with the same traits.

Your colonists will age as the game progresses, but if you really want to rush this, turn off the oxygen, water, and electricity to your domes.

Haven't received this breakthrough in any game I've played.

Is there any way to reliably obtain this? Map Co-Ordinates which definitely have it on them? Any other way to make sure it is one of the breakthroughs in a particular playthrough?

I don't know of a way reliably to spawning this, and my understanding is that Breakthroughs are still random.

Someone on the subreddit recommended this location: 16n32e . They also recommended doing the Marsgate mystery and saving before the conclusion, as you can reload to get another random Breakthrough reward.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a try.

The difficult part to this achievement is discovering the breakthrough tech Project Phoenix. Out of 55 possible breakthrough techs, only about a dozen are so can be unlocked for any play-through. This video shows a quick and easy strategy to find the tech.

The second part is very simple; request a rocket full of passengers and give them only a dome with no water or oxygen. They will soon bite the dust and have a 50% chance of being revived and unlocking the achievement.

Project Phoenix is a breakthrough technology. You can discover a maximum of 19 out of 55 Breakthrough techs per playthrough, and the order you receive them is randomized but if you always pick the same location to start the game, it will always give you the same 19 techs but in random order, so this is somewhat luck based, therefore it is better if you start a new game without any Mystery selected as Mysteries usually will take up 2 of the 19 breakthrough technologies. If you did not get these breakthrough techs on a playthrough, then you must pick a different location to start the game the next time.

Analysing Anomalies throughout the map with RC Explorers will grant a chance for up to approximately 15 breakthrough technologies to be discovered depending on how many Anomalies there are on the map, whereas the wonder The Omega Telescope will reveal the rest of the breakthrough technologies that have not been discovered, up to the maximum of 19 per playthrough as mentioned above.

Once you have research Project Phoenix, there is a 50% that a Colonist that dies can be reconstructed as a youth with the same traits, so pass the time and wait for it.

The working method for “finding” this breakthrough is as follows: On map 10N88E, selecting the Mars Exploration Company (due to the large amount of money and other useful things), take the Mayor of the city into the first rocket, throw a remote control reconnaissance and 60 probes, then scan the sectors for anomalies with a magnifying glass (they give a breakthrough) and send a scout to study the rest of the anomalies we don’t need. In the second rocket there is one more reconnaissance aircraft and 40 probes for the remaining sectors. If, while studying the anomalies, the Phoenix did not drop out, press pause and restart until it drops out, it dropped for me on the 6th restart. Next, you build a cupola and send 12 colonists there, cutting off either their water or oxygen and having previously studied the breakthrough for money, one of the poor fellows will be reborn and the trophy is yours. Outside of this method, having tried different maps and starting conditions, scanning deeply the entire map and performing planetary anomalies with breakthroughs with the further construction of the Phoenix omega telescope, it was still not possible to knock it out.
