How to unlock the Multiplanet Species achievement in Surviving Mars - Definitive Guide

Play on a low Challenge difficulty if you want this one quickly. I got this on my second playthrough with these Settings:

Company: Europe
Commander: Astrogeologist
Location: 30 S 173 E
Game Rules: More Applicants and Fast Scanning

Start with one Farm per dome in the beginning for your first 4 or 5 domes and then you'll have runaway population growth.

1) Seed your farms with 2 Wheats and a Soybean seed to start and then once you are at 100% soil, switch one of the Wheats with Potatoes (sub in Giant potatoes and wheat if you get that breakthrough tech). Corn and Giant Corn are direct upgrades to Potatoes and Giant Potatoes, so put those in whenever you research them. Cover Crops are super good for beginning farms later into the game because of their 40% soil enhancement, so immediately plant those when you build new farms.

2) Keep the Botanist population up so that you can keep the farms running and at high efficiency. Martian Universities are super useful for this.

3) Research as much into techs that help you become Earth-Independent. Botanist stat improvements and research the Farm tech as soon as possible (Hydroponics are ok, but farms are just objectively better.

4) Bring a good mix of different professions on your Founder rocket. Early Polymer, Electronics, and Machine Parts factories make it super easy to keep everything up and running while the population grows.

The achievement is quite simple, and when I say "quickly" for this solution, it's relative to the reset of the game's achievements. It'll take you well beyond 100 or even 200 Sols to get this achievement.

Time Saver: Do this together with Dream of a Green Mars and S.P.E.C.I.A.L

After passing the Colony Approval stage, keep expanding your colony by building more Domes, securing resources and keep your population Comfort levels high to encourage more births. You’ll want to maintain a Comfort level of at least 70 as anything below that means your population isn’t growing. You can also use the resupply function to call for Colonists from Earth, but keep in mind it takes time to replenish the pool of applicants.
