How to unlock the Multitasking achievement in Surviving Mars - Definitive Guide
Required:
Recon Center tech - Recon & Expansion research
Micro-G Landers tech - Recon & Expansion research
Recon Center facility
colonists to staff the Recon Center
3 Asteroid Lander rockets (from the Resupply menu)
45 fuel (15 per rocket)
Recommended:
45 more fuel (90 total) - so you can return your rockets to Mars
15 drones (5 per rocket) - to prevent this from being a colossal waste of resources
20 electronics for the first lander, just in case (see below).
6 scientists to staff the Recon Center
2 rocket landing pads
Once you research Micro-G Landers, you can order asteroid landers from Earth for $1.5B each. You will need three landers, but you don't have to preorder all of them. There will be time to order the second and third ones after you launch the first; just make sure you have the funds.
Once you research Recon Center, you will get a pop-up notification that an asteroid has been spotted. This is the only asteroid you will ever discover without building a Recon Center facility. I wouldn't worry about rushing to build the facility right away. It works just fine to build the Recon Center on your own timetable and then start working on the achievement after you discover your second asteroid.
The Recon Center is an out-dome building that is preferably staffed by scientists. If you have six scientists working in it, 3 per shift for 2 normal shifts per day, you'll make a new discovery close to every sol. Not every discovery is an asteroid, so sometimes you have to wait for several "dud" discoveries in between asteroids. You can have a maximum of three asteroids active at any one time.
OK, so you've discovered the required techs, built the required building, staffed it, you have a lander in your colony, and you have the funds to order two more landers. Load the lander with 30 fuel and 5 drones and wait for an asteroid. When it comes, up, up and away!
(EDIT: A bug that used to prevent asteroid landers from taking off unless everything was loaded in multiples of five was fixed with a recent patch.)
When your rocket is ready to land, switch over to the asteroid and land it. When your rockets are on the asteroid, the drones will, by default, automatically load any resources they can scavenge from the surface. This is handy, but may not be ideal. I always turn auto-loading off and choose what I want to load for the return trip to Mars. Five drones are usually enough to gather everything on the asteroid's surface, even if you have to build a ramp as well. Ten are better.
Now order your second and third landers, load them with drones and fuel, and wait for your Recon Center to discover two more asteroids. Leave Landers #1 and #2 on their respective asteroids. The achievement will unlock after you switch maps and land #3.
