How to unlock the Big Game Hunter achievement in Surviving the Aftermath - Definitive Guide
Sandworms can be found near sandy like ground in your colony but they are RARE, I usually find 2 and that's about it. As you expand looking for resources you'll get messages telling you about colonists being attacked. If you get a sandworm ensure you have specialists in your colony, recommend about 3-4. Sandworms have alot of health and pack a punch of damage so make sure you keep an eye on their health. The Sandworm focuses on one person at a time so which ever one is getting hit get ready to move them away from the area.

Anyone know why this may not unlock? Going for it on my 255% difficulty run and killed about 25 so far on one map (I have animals set to max).

It may be that the worm will not be on the map, then just play and collect all the other trophies, after which you can create a custom map of a difficult level with 10 specialists and many animals, from the start build towers on all sides and when you find a worm not far from the settlement, send everyone there specialists - the trophy is yours.
You can also include Living Creatures in Transparent Menus, this will help you quickly see the worm in an open area and not miss it behind the trees.

The worm is at the base. I found it when I was building observation towers to expand the map, in places where pollution accumulated.

The hint from sgvcoder is not relevant, the trophy in custom mode no longer falls.
Create a regular game, maybe with a stick, and look for fish near the polluted areas. To operate, you will need 3-4 specialists; the worm itself can kill two.
