Clear "Animism" quest chain (4 quests). That will go through most of the Elite monsters. Elite monsters are the ones in the Library section you can see with the letter next to their names at the end (C/D/S etc):
-Magic Ginseng (D) - Automatic story-related
-Thorn Monster (D) - Automatic story-related
-Wind Evil (S) - Changbai Mountain Road; During "Animism II" quest, southeastern corner of the start of the map
-Ice Cone (C) - Howling Canyon; During "Animism II" quest, north part of the map, in the middle
-Knife Nanny (S) - Flora Cliff; During "Animism III" quest, southwestern corner of the start of the map
-Anxiang (C) - Flora Cliff; You can find her when you go down in the red flower field, in the southeastern corner
-Hard Rock Monster (H) - Pingxi Village; Automatic story-related during "The Trial" quest
-Furious Salamander (P) - Bottom of Duzhang Spring; Northern part of the lake area, around the middle.
-Sword Servant (B) - Automatic story-related (this should be your last Elite monster for unlocking the achievement)
-Li (R) - Not needed for the achievement.

The, Pants, Party
Elite monsters are ones found in the "Library" in the menu who have a letter next to their name, and nine are required for this achievement. The full list is marked below. Basically, you need to progress the "Animism" chain of side-quests (these enemies will be marked as a blue "?" on the map), most of the rest are story-related enemies, while two you just need to find in the wild (they aren't random spawns, they will always be there until you kill them).

- Wind Evil (S) - found in Changbai Mountain Road during "Animism II"
- Ice Cone (C) - found in Howling Canyon during "Animism II"
