How to unlock the Weapon Master achievement in SWORD ART ONLINE: FATAL BULLET - Definitive Guide

UPDATE 1: Thanks to Zoot Marlowe for commenting, that duel wielding weapons does make this go faster. Only some types of weapons can be duel wielded.
UPDATE 2: Thanks to Zoot Marlowe for commenting that all progress made does carry over to NG+.

This is will come naturally if your sticking to a certain weapon type. There are a total of nine different weapon types which are...

Handguns
Shotguns
Submachine Guns
Assault Rifles
Sniper Riles
Gatling Guns
Launchers
Swords
Guns and Swords

You gain progress as you use the weapon to kill enemies.
You can check your current progress by..
push the start button.
Go to your character name
Status
Push X 4 times and it'll bring you to your Weapon Proficiency

Simply use a certain type of weapon and get it to the 1000 mark which will unlock this achievement, but also note there is a separate achievement that requires you to do all nine of these to max.

Do you know if all 9 have to be done on the same avatar? Or can I split it between multiple avatars?

I'm honestly not to sure as I'm doing them all before I finish the story, but if someone knows that would be great.

Reached 1000 on pistols today. No achievement. Re-loaded save & whole game. No change. Next closest is Assault Rifles. Will see what happens when I reach 1000 there.

Edit: 'Fall of the Uncrowned Queen' did not unlock for that ending either. Something weird is going on. hmm

Yeah sounds like their might be a issue with the achievements in this game then. You reached the requirement so it should have unlocked. Let me know how you get on.

I was wondering how long this takes because im level 100 now and stuck with the assault rifle most of the game and I am only at 680 points.

You gain the XP the more time you spend time killing enemies. I've been run farming them in Solitary Sands, start from the entrance and use auto lock to just run and gun. It does take a while, alternatively you could re do some of the quests and get the XP that way.

Also once you unlock the ability to dual wield most weapons it will go a lot faster. I dual wielded 2 Legendary SPB Night Sky MK2's and it only took me 2-3 hours to go from 0 to 1000. I am working on launchers now dual wielding a couple of grenade launchers.

Perfect I'll update. I did wonder if duel wielding made it go faster.

Posted a more updated solution on the other achievement (Ultimate Warrior) for mastering all weapon categories, if it helps anyone still going for the weapon proficiencies, tho let me know if there's anything more I can add to it.

It's just getting hits on targets is what counts. But the more enemies you kill the slightly faster it goes up. So no level doesn't matter and go and farm monsters that can die easy.

From what I remember, it took pretty much all of my first playthrough to reach mastery with assault rifle, though could be mistaken, but I more quickly mastered SMG's during the first half or so of my current extreme playthrough with how much more enemies there are, and about halfway through on handgun mastery now. The fact you can't dual wield anymore on NG+ until you reach the point again where Bazalt Joe gets added to your crew is annoying though.

Did read somewhere at least that the boss in that dungeon in the third area (Old South) that you normally have to run from while activating those 9 switches, dumping ammo clips on it after you reacquire dual wielding on extreme is the quickest way to make progression on weapon masteries, barring the photon sword.

Weapon proficiency is increased by dealing damage with a specific weapon type. It increases more if more damage is done and/or a stronger enemy is hit. Just use the same weapon type until this pops.
