This is story related and is not missable. It is triggered by the smoke signal puzzle. Note that solving the puzzle without putting out the fire that Kate had lit in the furnace results in the following achievement:
The Mobile communication achievement in Syberia 3 worth 31 pointsWhen solving a puzzle, you used a strange machine without putting out the fire you lit beforehand.
The guide to the mobile comm achievement can be used to help with the solution to the puzzle. Nevertheless, the mobile comm achievement is not required to progress the story and unlock the What counts is not the destination… achievement. The only requirement to advance the story is that the puzzle be solved and the smoke signals sent. At this point, no further input from the player is required. Sending the smoke signals triggers a series of cut scenes that conclude the game. This achievement is unlocked as the credits start to roll after the game ends.
