How to unlock the ARdcore achievement in Tacoma - Definitive Guide

Not a full guide, but a bit of help for any like me who were struggling.

There is an AR Crew Record with an AR Desktop in the shower area, behind the locker room in Operations. I played the game 3 times through before I found that one. The rest are all pretty easy to find.

If you have a completed game but didn't get that AR, you can "Continue Game" from the menu, and go get the one you missed, then walk back to the ship and re-trigger the ending. You can hold B to skip the cutscene and credits; achievement pops when you return to main menu.

There are two AR crew records easy to miss - in the observation deck and the aforementioned one in the shower. For me however the thing I'd missed was expanding all four desktop items on the first couple of AR desktops I found so if you're not getting the achievement to pop despite getting the two AR crew records above, do check if you've clicked on all 4 items on all AR desktops

Helpful hint - Although there is no progress tracker on the achievement, you can see your percentage towards AR related items under "Stats" in the GameHub. You can at least narrow down how many things you might have missed that way.

This game has been a very glitchy mess for me, it crashed on me once. I had to had to replay just the ending to get a different achievements to pop and now my AR Crew Records Recovered are stuck at 94%.

I’ve done three playthroughs and used two different guides hoping one was missing something. I’m going to clear my cash and uninstall/reinstall the game and do one more playthrough.

To add to @xenemorphfiends helpful tip. While the stats tool does show the progress it does not update in game. I was on 96% and it turned doit the first purple lady in personnel I had not clicked on all of her boxes and they still had the red question mark. Having done so, the 96% did not move to 100% until I had again gone through the completion sequence

I’m on Windows 10, so it may be different for me, but after getting all the records I had to fully sit through the final cutscene and credits before the achievement popped. The first time I knew I got everything, went to the exit craft and then used B to skip to main menu, no achievement. Loaded back into the game (right in front of the exit) clicked to leave, and watched the ending and credits. Once they finished and returned me to the main menu, achievement unlocked

This achievement is buggy. I have every log and have clicked on all four desktop entries for everyone and the only log I missed was in Big Bertha's room on my first run. Do you have to focus in on every item with LT?

I finally got the achievement by opening up every item, focusing in with LT, and then closing it. I think closing it may be key.

@TheAnonymity

Yep, this worked for me. Didn't get it the first play through but ran through again and focusing LT on everything in the desktops and workstations. Including closing each thing.

Maybe a dumb question, but what is the difference between the Crew and Desktop? I was looking at the little pop up around the crew members and those say Desktop, not Crew like I would've thought.

collectibles are divided into:

Crew members who have a digital desktop that show up and you have to interact with it

Workstation, desk with interactive desktop you also have to interact with it

Crew recording, crew mebers who have an audio collectible but not a desktop to interact with.

Hope I get your question right @LeoAscendent

My game, similar to some others, crashed at one point. It was as I went through a lift thing between a named section and the zero G. As it respawned me by the control panel, I assumed it had saved everything but a AI memory that I know I opened and read before collecting the AI core was now unread. I still had the core. Not too bad to go back, thankfully engineering was the first section I went to. But yeah, be careful for crashes.

****PC PLAYERS****

Not sure if its the cause of it, but I found that once you launch the game if you Alt+Tab at any point on PC it breaks the achievements. Found all the collectibles and didnt pop the achievement but after restarting and ending the game without ever changing windows it popped first time. Same with the Skeletina achievement

Still no idea what I missed, but going back through each area is pretty quick to do. I recommend grabbing everything again, and being sure all AR Recordings are fast forwarded to the end 🤙

Open and close all AR Desktop items and desks too. Not sure it mattered, but why not for the time cost of less than a second?

My game crashed just before I finishing the game. No matter how many times I went back through the achievement wouldn't pop. Started a new game (without any crashes) and it popped straight away.

I think it's important to point out for anyone trying to get this achievement that if the game crashes it will reset your progress. Then it seems you have to start over and get all the AR desktops without the game crashing.
If your are on the One X it can be helpful to disable the 4k Rendering in the options. I believe this is disabled by default.

Just a note: The game crashing does not always reset your progress.

On my only play through the game crashed once. It was just before the end of the game as I was hunting down the last cat I needed. After reloading the game I found the last cat and got the Catsitter achievement. I finished the game and all the remaining achievements (ARdcore, Master of Unlocking, Ringbearer, Employee of the Month) popped after the credits. YMMV but don’t give up hope, especially if you’re near the end of the game.

My game crashed towards the end, I didn't get the achievement, but it turned out I was missing the observation deck one. Loaded back in got it and it popped.

I got this without opening the ad in the top left corner of any of the workstations. I had gotten a game freeze in one of the shafts as well during the run solely for this achievement.
I also did not zoom in on anything, or close out any windows on the workstations.

Goddamit. No cheevo, so I reloaded my save.
Went through every area clicking on everything. Still nothing
Loaded again where I clicked on the ad and zoomed into every pc terminal. Nothing.
Tried again where I zoomed in on every persons AR profiles. Nothing.

Then I realised I hadn’t seen personal quarters for EV. They were in the party area right beside the letters/poster you help put up.

Goddamit. Fuck.

Thank you! This was one of two records that I was missing, but I highly doubt I would have been able to find this one on my own. laugh

This didn't unlock for me until I continued the game and viewed every item in every desktop and worktable. That means opening each icon found in each one.

From the statistics hub, I realize I missed a crew recording which doesn’t have a desktop.
Thanks to who suggest to check the statistics.
I remember I rush a bit the first area, in fact I found it in personnel, administration, on the right to the “happy obsolescence” there is a corridor that brings to a room where a crew member is playing music. Glad I didn’t have to restart the whole game. Thanks for the alert to use “continue” game.

Here's a text guide from IGN, with screenshots.

I had somehow missed Roberta's Personal Quarters in Mechanical Engineering, so consider that one as well as the ones mentioned in the other guides if you're missing something.

It was Sareh’s personal recording for me. I got sidetracked with the two achievements that use the skeleton and never went back to finish searching.

IGN Guide does not include AR Crew Records, and they are required for this achievement.

I missed EV's personal quarters record because it was early in the game and I hadn't figured out what the heck I was supposed to be looking for yet.

Wow Roberta for me too. Somehow progress doesn’t always get saved when you save. Might have to go back when you resume and double check you got everything in the area even if you did it before

Duh! Played through the whole thing two times to figure this out: I was missing the AR record on the observation deck. It's straight through after you dock to the station.

Been googling this for a bit and Obversation deck and the shower seem to be the two AR records that people tend to miss.

Good luck!

A fast guide of the game.

Make sure to recover every AR crew data, every desktop and every workbench. You will see all of them in the video.

AR Crew Records are found during sequences when interacting with the crew's displays. During interactions between multiple people, pay attention to the icons on the bottom of the screen. You can fast forward and rewind to find the character in the right time to open their displays. Make sure you open all four of the items in the display. Some of the items will be corrupted, but they still need to be clicked on.

The AR Desktop items are the large white desks that open up when you interact with them. There is one for each crew member, six in all. Each has four items to open up.

This achievement will unlock at the end of the game after the credits.

If you miss any refer to Maka's video to find each one.

AR Crew Records are found during the AR Sequences in the story. During the sequence, pay attention to the icons on the bottom of the screen and use the fast forward and rewind functions to find the character at the right time to access their information. Make sure to open all the items in their display. Some information will be corrupted, but still need to be opened.

AR Desktops are the large white desks that open up into displays. There are 6 of these in total. You also need to open all of the items on the display, including the corrupted ones.

See the video HERE for more information.

All memories follow the plot, but during the memory there are question marks on the scale; when you reach them, a hint appears in the form of a color, with whom you should check his records. When checking screens, transcribe everything. Some entries are not decrypted, but you still need to click on them once.

There are corrupted memories in the game that do not have question marks on the timeline. It's important not to miss the AR screens of the characters in these flashbacks.
